TOP of the range and RARE, SKEET example Winchester XTR SUPER GRADE 12g Over and Under, Single Selective Trigger Shotgun. This is an older model in SUPERB condition
These are designated clay guns. Both chokes matching and fixed wide open at cylinder and cylinder / skeet and skeet. That said, I CAN confirm it drops flighting pigeon beautifully too!
At an overall length of 44 1/8” the gun weighs in at a full 7lbs 14oz (3.57Kg). IDEAL for a day of consistent / concentrated shooting as it will help absorb a lot of recoil. That is, as always, a ‘balancing act’. A heavier gun takes away a lot of recoil from each shot fired, (sounds obvious). BUT it IS also that much heavier. You DO need the size and strength to continually mount it correctly and shoot under a heavy shot count.
27” (685mm) FULLY ventilated barrels are topped off with a matt finished 10mm rib. That is fitted with a ‘True Glo’ or similar after-market front sight bead. Chambers are standard 2 ¾” (70mm), MORE than adequate for shooting clays at ANY distance.
At present the Very Pretty, HIGHLY Figured and decorative Walnut stock measures a 14 3/8” (365mm) pull length. It retains the original Winchester Logo hard plastic butt plate. The forend is slightly bigger than on a standard game or sporting version having a semi-beavertail profile.
The action is still nice and tight, Classic Silver finished Semi Engraved in Acanthus Scroll pattern. Trigger Guard and Forend Iron with matching decoration. The Single Selective Trigger finishes things off as a NICE little gun.
