Description

AYA 12G SIDE BY SIDE No 4 EJECTOR SHOTGUN.

No 4 Boxlock Ejector 12g Side by Side Shotgun from AYA in Spain. Purchased brand new circa 40 years ago by the fella who just brought it in. Apparently packing in shooting as his eyes no longer ‘communicate’ with his hands on moving targets! HIS words not mine. As such missing too many for his own comfort.

WORRIED ABOUT NONE TOXIC / STEEL SHOT?                        TAKE A LOOK AT THIS:

NOW, to TRY and help speed up availability I WILL also suggest that YOU pass on details to everyone you know who shoots. Then ALL of us start to ask whoever we buy from why they are not DEMANDING cartridges made in this material? Basically VOTE with your WALLET.

YES, it will take a little time for everything to filter through but patience IS a virtue. It also allows everyone who wants to keep hold of their ‘old favourite’ for the rest of their lives. Even pass it on to the next generation and hopefully beyond!

On that note I AM looking into the possibility of stocking some direct from Steve at Hortons.                                                                                                                RING for an update and keep checking the web site.

BACK TO THE GUN:  …..

Standard 28” (710mm) Fixed Choke Barrels with a Concave Sunken Rib and single Front Sight Bead. Current restrictions are at ½ and Full. At the other end Chambers are 2 ¾” (70mm).

The Action still retains in excess of 50% colour and features the usual AYA Striker Disc Plates to the face. EASY maintenance should a replacement firing pin be needed etc. and a QUALITY feature on any gun. It IS still quite tight to operate. The Top Lever still pointing right and away from centre when closed. It never takes long /much actual use before everything settles in and this centres up on the tang.

Walnut Stock and Forend giving a Long Original Pull at 14 5/8” (372mm) with no extension added. It does have some reasonable Grain Pattern and Contrast too. Chequering also pretty clean. With minimal cast this may well suit a Left or Right Handed shot.

Overall the gun finishes at a straight 45” (1143mm). Tipping the scales at a ‘Comfortable to carry all day’ 6 Lbs 9 oz (2.977 Kg).

Considering in excess of 40 years old there are only absolute minimal blemishes with nothing of any particular note. Just a few VERY light use marks but no dents or dings as such. You have to hold the gun at the right angle in the light to see anything worth looking at. A VERY CLEAN example.
