CZ Model 453 American Bolt Action Rifle in .17 HMR. Standard Sporting weight 22 ¼” (565mm) Barrel, factory threaded at ½” x 20 UNF. All ready for a sound moderator with plenty of options readily available in stock. 13 ¾” (350mm) Pull combining for an Overall length of 40 ¼” (1023mm). The bare rifle as pictured weighing in at an ounce over 6 lb (2.75 Kg).
A few small / light scratches to the bottom of the stock, forward of the rear sling stud. Presumably from fitting a cheap sling that did the damage. Other than that, the rifle is just about as new other than 1 or 2 Very Light blemishes. Without a decent amount of care and attention it could easily come back with worst after its first outing. As detailed, this is the ‘American’ version so an ambidextrous stock for use from either shoulder. That itself has a Tightly Packed, Strong Straight Grain.
The 453 comes Factory fitted with a Fully Adjustable Single Set (Hair) Trigger. As such, BEFORE you ‘panic’ it CAN be employed or it can simply be adjusted out of play. But why would you? ALL anyone needs to do is know how to operate one. The main element of that is how to return it back to standard pull and / or make safe. On this specific Brand / Model its SIMPLICITY. Apply the safety and then physically return the trigger blade to its normal position. Another option is to just lift the bolt handle and pull the bolt slightly back. Again physically move the blade back to its standard trigger position. JOB DONE.
All that detailed, I again ask the question of WHY anyone would not make use of one? It is a strange state within UK shooting that the bulk tend to shy away. However, those that do give one a chance often never wants anything different. Wonder quite why they took so long to discover etc.
The benefits for accuracy tend to clearly show down range once you get used to one. As said, the ONLY thing you need to be aware of is how to make the rifle safe again.
Thankfully this still has its original Metal 5 Round Detachable Magazine in place. Replacements and / or higher capacity 10 round options easily sourced and supplied too. However, these are generally all plastic today.
Standard width Dovetail factory machined to the top of the action too. IF you want to fit a Night Vision / Thermal unit I generally have suitable conversion rails in stock.
Why not go ‘The Whole Hog’ and take a Complete Package back home? I have a HUGE stock of suitable Scopes and every other accessory you might require. Anything not readily available is easily ordered in too. Alternatively, take your pick from Zeiss as we are Main Dealers for them too.
