Henri Dumoulin 7.62x65mm BR / .308 Norma Magnum Calibre Bolt Action Sporting Rifle.
At some point this too will Very Possibly head that way. It IS priced to still be attractive over there even with the costs of exporting considered. However, I will give any Discerning Rifleman here in the UK (or elsewhere) the opportunity to grab it first.
23 1/4″ (590mm) Barrel with a Trigger Pull length of 14 5/8″ (372mm). Quite long and probably actually needed to help with the recoil / save your eyebrow! That also includes the 3/4″ (19mm) Black Pachmayer Recoil Pad and White Spacer. The same detail to the Dark Rosewood For-end Tip and Grip Cap.
Together they bring in an overall length of 44 5/8″ (1133mm) and Bare weight of 8 Lb ½ oz (3.650 Kg).
Quite frankly I am somewhat amazed it’s not close to the top slot for modern day ‘must have’ rifles. Sporting rifle set ups are capable of excellent groups at 1000 yards and beyond.
High Grade and Highly Decorative Walnut Stock, featuring a Scalloped Out Raised, Roll Over Cheek Rest. My head actually fits perfectly for alignment of the Original Open / Iron Sights. Exactly as the rifle was first designed, made and so far, used.
Butter Knife Bolt Handle for a Super Sleek line when closed. Equally more than big enough at the bottom to offer up an extremely positive connection in use. This also features the Traditional Pivoting Flag Safety. These can be easily swapped out for Low Level options should a scope ever be added.
Also, check out the ‘Basket Weave’ Hand Cut Chequering to the grip areas. Standard Diamond Pattern is difficult enough to do well. This style is at a completely different level of Understanding and Skill.
With only the lightest of blemishes evident to the stock. Even they need the light ‘just right’ to be able to see the bulk of what there is. Metal work is equally as clean if not even better. Shallow Beaver Tail Style For-end for a wider and even more positive grip platform without the usual bulk.
Fixed iron sight regulated at 100 yards / metres with a secondary folding option for 200. This is a TRUE CLASSIC Traditional Hunters Rifle and powerful enough to take anything other than the ‘BIG FIVE’. With the right bullet and no restrictions, it could easily account for any and all of them too. As with anything its shot placement but this HAS the OOMPH too.
There is also a third main action / rifle screw. This to the For-end and pulling the barrel down onto its specially designed Bridge / Rest. LEAVE it alone. There ARE rifles out there specifically designed NOT to be 100% free floating. Remove such at your own peril.
Given its condition I suspect a single owner from Brand New. Also, one that was part way reluctant to use it any more than absolute minimum. That, through to simply being scared to pull the trigger. They DO ‘thump’ a bit and that is ALWAYS worse if you are looking for it. Closing eyes, flinching, not holding firmly and INTO the shoulder etc.
Finally, YES, the action can be drilled and tapped to take scope mounts. It CAN also be screw cut for a sound moderator. However, personally, I think it should remain in exactly this format and how it was originally made. If for nothing else than historic value and significance.
BUT, you buy it and that call then falls at your feet.
