Description

BROWNING MAXUS ONE HUNTER 12G SEMI AUTOMATIC SHOTGUN.

12G Semi-Automatic Browning Maxus One Hunter GRADE 11 Shotgun. 30” (760mm) Invector Plus Multi Choke with 3” (75mm) Magnum Chamber. A ¼” (7mm) Ventilated Top Rib aligned with a sight rail machined to the top of the Silver Finished Action. 14 ¼” (363mm) Stock bringing in an overall length of 51” (1295mm) when made up. Scales tip out at 7 Lbs 1 oz (3.202 Kg). The current choke is marked with 3 slots with a gauge showing approx. ¼ restriction. I can easily organise others or a full set if required at circa £30 each.

This IS a 4 plus 1 standard 5 shot Section One Firearm. As such you DO need the relevant certificate / authority. Alternatively I can easily sort out the restriction and have it recategorized for purchase as a standard Section Two Shotgun. It does not cost THAT much.

A reasonably well patterned stock with a Good Dark Stripe and Colour Contrast to the Strong Straight Grain. Chequering is still clean. Generally the gun is very clean inside as well as out. Still plenty of Gold Wash to the trigger which shows the gun has seen no great use as yet. This finish never lasts particularly long when a gun is being used no matter how much care you give. No big blemishes or marks to mention other than the finish to the metal on the left of the forend. This appears to be lifting slightly. Its purely cosmetic and nothing more. Plus it is a pre-used gun so, within reason, you might expect not quite perfect. If that is what you want then spend a lot more and I can sort out brand new for you.

The Maxus Range of shotguns are designed to shoot any load from 24g all the way up to 64g cartridges. THAT IS A LOT of lead (2 ½ ounces at the top end). It also features the Browning Speed Load System. That chambers the first cartridge straight from the magazine without having to cock the action back.

Looking through the 2021 catalogue the nearest equivalent option with the Bright Action is the Ultimate Partridge. Current retail on that is around £1650 and WILL be going up for 2022.

GRAB A BARGAIN.

THE STEEL SHOT DEBACLE?

FIRST THING:  Given lead is SO dangerous, can we ask about getting every lead water main replaced? After all, ANYONE with one of those still supplying water has zero choice. LETS PUT THAT QUESTION TO HEALTH AND SAFETY EXECUTIVE AS WELL AS THE GOVERNMENT.
That is every child’s grazed knee washed out with lead infested water (direct into their blood stream. Every glass of juice. Every cup of tea or coffee, Vegetables washed and cooked in the stuff. ALL that DELICIOUS Gravy. Cloths washed in it. Then we bath in the sodding lead infested stuff!
HOW DO THEY DEFEND THIS FACT?
THEN THERE ARE more and more Non-Toxic Shot alternatives being produced. WITH near matching performances to traditional lead and close to, if not matching pressures. Take a look at Horton Gunmakers for their own entry into this debacle of modern-day shooting. IF it’s so lethally deadly to shooters and game eaters, how is it every old lead water main supply pipe is not getting ripped out and replaced? To my mind it’s a DISGRACE that the shooting industry did not simply ask that one simple question. NO, they saw an excuse to charge a fortune and that mainly to the detriment of the quarry. Just my opinion …..for what its worth?
Anyway, take a look for yourself:
NOW, to TRY and help speed up availability I WILL also suggest that YOU pass on details to everyone you know who shoots. Then ALL of us start to ask whoever we buy from why they are not DEMANDING cartridges made in this material? Basically VOTE with your WALLET.
YES, it will take a little time for everything to filter through but patience IS a virtue. It also allows everyone who wants to keep hold of their ‘old favourite’ for the rest of their lives. Even pass it on to the next generation and hopefully beyond!
On that note I AM looking into the possibility of stocking some direct from Steve at Hortons.                                                     RING for an update and keep checking the web site.
