SABATTI 12G OVER AND UNDER SHOTGUN.

12g Over and Under Boxlock Side plated Double Trigger Ejector Shotgun from Fias / Sabatti.

Apparently one and the same, once trading under the Fias name but now Sabatti. This is detailed with both so take your pick!

It is a nice looking gun and handles well. YES, a double trigger. VERY HANDY if you shoot a traditional Side by Side but also want a heavier gun for clays etc. It is often difficult to swap between a single and double trigger. I KNOW I struggle forgetting to drop back to the left , second trigger on a side by side.

At 7lbs 7oz (3.38Kg) this has the weight to absorb heavier shells. They can be uncomfortable to shoot through a lighter, traditional Side by side game gun.

27 ¾” (705mm) barrels are fixed choke at ¾ and full with a  ¼” (6mm) game rib. Chambers are 2 ¾” and the original sling swivel attachment are still in place too! The profuse engraving to the side plates and the rest of the action is quite nice. A LOT better than usually found on this level of gun.

A reasonably patterned straight grained stock at 14 5/8” (372mm). Finished off with the original makers hard butt plate. Barrels are stamped up FABRIKA ITALIANA ARMI-SABATTI-GARDONE V.T. ACC BREDA MOLIBDENUM STEEL.

The sling attachment is also screwed into the rib and easily removed. A nice touch, as is the browned finish to triggers. It sports a semi beavertail forend. All in all this gun has a few nice little features that just lifts it above the ‘bog standard’. They all come together to make it a very nice gun for this kind of money.

Manual safety. A lot of shotgun for not a lot of money.

THE STEEL SHOT DEBACLE?

FIRST THING:  Given lead is SO dangerous, can we ask about getting every lead water main replaced? After all, ANYONE with one of those still supplying water has zero choice. LETS PUT THAT QUESTION TO HEALTH AND SAFETY EXECUTIVE AS WELL AS THE GOVERNMENT.
That is every child’s grazed knee washed out with lead infested water (direct into their blood stream. Every glass of juice. Every cup of tea or coffee, Vegetables washed and cooked in the stuff. ALL that DELICIOUS Gravy. Cloths washed in it. Then we bath in the sodding lead infested stuff!
HOW DO THEY DEFEND THIS FACT?
THEN THERE ARE more and more Non-Toxic Shot alternatives being produced. WITH near matching performances to traditional lead and close to, if not matching pressures. Take a look at Horton Gunmakers for their own entry into this debacle of modern-day shooting. APPARENTLY so lethally deadly to shooters and game eaters? How is it every old lead water main supply pipe is not getting ripped out and replaced? To my mind it’s a DISGRACE that the shooting industry did not simply ask that one simple question. NO, they saw an excuse to charge a fortune and that mainly to the detriment of the quarry. Just my opinion …..for what its worth?
Anyway, take a look for yourself:
NOW, TRY and help speed up availability. I WILL suggest that YOU pass on details to everyone you know who shoots. Then ask whoever we buy from WHY they are not DEMANDING cartridges made in this material? Basically VOTE with your WALLET.
YES, it will take a little time for everything to filter through, but patience IS a virtue. It also allows everyone who wants to keep hold of their ‘old favourite’ for the rest of their lives. Even pass it on to the next generation and hopefully beyond!
On that note I AM looking into the possibility of stocking some direct from Steve at Hortons.                                                     RING for an update and keep checking the web site.
