Description

WEBLEY AND SCOTT, BIRMINGHAM .177 JAGUAR AIR RIFLE.

.177 (4.5mm) Jaguar model Air Rifle From Webley and Scott, Birmingham, England. Barrel length is only 14 1/8” (350mm) but a full sized stock length at 13 3/4” (350 mmm). Overall the gun measures to approx. 36 ½” (925mm) and tips scales at seriously lightweight 3 lbs 9 oz. (1.623 Kg).

A quick check puts production into the 1970’s with the serial number yielding little else.

It came in along with 3 other ‘older’ / similar era air rifles. All purchased and used from new by the previous owner, now deceased. His nephew brought them and remembers learning to shoot with this particular gun.  Second a Webley Tracker, the third is a Mark 3 and the last a Weihrauch HW35 Hofmann Premier.

I would say this is technically what anyone would class as a ‘Junior’ power air rifle. Seriously easy to cock and load and perfectly suitable for a youngster to practice and learn with. OR anyone struggling with a full power option. No idea what the output actually is but suspect it’s a 10 yard / 10 meter candidate and not a lot further. Trying to jack this to approach the 12 Ft/Lbs limit may well put excessive stress on the gun.  Scope mount Dovetail to the top of the Spring body and also retains the original open / iron sights. Only thing none original appears to be the brass nut now in place on the pivot pin. Otherwise a VERY Nice and Highly Decorative Stock. Unsure if this is original but the stock is also inlet with an American 10 cents ‘silver’ coin dated to 1965. Quite why it would be or if the date has relevance is anyone’s guess.

Considering circa 50 years old I consider it in Excellent Condition. Another worthy candidate for ANY serious Webley and Scott or even General Air Rifle Collector. Each one of the four that came in are.

At the time of listing I found only two others. Yes, they were both less money but they WERE also in a lot poorer condition. If you want something cheaper by all means buy one of those.
