This is / was their top of the range option STL 3. Featuring a Strong, Straight grained stock sporting some very pretty ‘Tiger Stripe’ Highlights. All along the full length of the Bavarian Hog Back style stock. Pull is 14 5/8” (372mm) finished with a Rosewood for end Tip and Grip cap, Fox or Skip cut chequering. All reasonably crisp and still very clean. Raised cheek piece as well as a nice palm swell to the grip. Both adding to the full list of high-end features on this rifle.
The original barrel mounted front sling attachment has been removed, though the fitting stud remains. All I can assume is that the existing sling swivel was fitted to the stock to facilitate fitting a bi-pod. Likely the original sling point interfered with that. No bad thing I suppose as they are a great addition, especially for longer range shots.
This also comes with a Fully Adjustable Set or Hair Double Trigger. These can be a superb aid to Very Accurate Shot Placement when set up and used correctly. Personally, I have never understood the general aversion to set triggers here in the UK.
OK, this often differs from rifle to rifle. But it does take minimal brain power, and the benefits can be without question.
Another VERY handy feature is the Tang Safety position. A feature that proves a Great Advantage for a right- or LEFT-handed shot. Finishing things off, the case extractor is Jewelled or Engine Turned with the matching bolt release lever. Plus, the ‘always nice to see’, Butter Knife Bolt Handle.
The bare rifle weighs in at 7lbs 4 ½ oz (3.442Kg) and an overall length of approx. 46” (1168mm). With the OPTIONAL Swarovski 6×42 Habitch Nova Scope and Quick Detachable, Windage Adjustable Pivot Claw mounts. The rifle tops out at 8lb 14oz (4.016Kg).
All in all this is a rather nice and Very ‘Classic’ styled rifle that has not been used excessively at all. More ‘Mainland European’ in form than English certainly. That said, they DO know what they are doing just the same. Often with calibres like this produce a better rifle for ‘general feel’, balance and felt recoil. I have little doubt this will justify that comment.
I might well take this out myself and try / test fire it. (IF I can find the time)!
To include the Top-quality mounts and Swarovski Habitch 6×42 scope the FULL package £799.99.
