BIG / DANGEROUS GAME / SAFARI .416 RIGBY Bolt Action Rifle from T.T. (Trevor) Proctor. Apparently, THE LAST Rifle EVER and as a consecutively numbered ‘pair’. The penultimate also AVAILABLE HERE in that Equally and Ever Classic Safari Calibre .375 H&H Magnum. It will be shame to split them but let’s see how things work out. IF interested in one I WILL suggest you TRY to work something out for both if at all possible.
25″ (635mm) Traditional Open Sighted Barrel fitted with the equally expected ‘Big Game’ Barrel Band Rifle Sling point. Stock Trigger Pull measures to a full 14 1/2″ (370mm) combining to an overall rifle length of 46 1/2″ (1180mm). Scales show a bare weight as pictured of 8 Lb 15 oz (4.053 Kg). Not excessive by ANY STRETCH for such a Magnum round.
SERIOUSLY Tightly Packed, Slow Grown, Strong Straight Grain Pattern and Deliciously Rich Dark (possibly) Maple Walnut Stock. Extensive Grain Pattern and Colour Contrast throughout both sides and base. Raised Cheek Rest and finished with Black Buffalo Horn For-end Tip and possibly Grip Cap. This too fitted with Matching Flush inlet, so far unused, Shield Shaped Escutcheon to the bottom. Ready and waiting for YOUR initials or even Family Crest on BOTH. All finished with the Deep Red 1” (25mm) Recoil pad including the Black Base / Spacer.
Hinged Magazine Floor Plate Engraved and inlaid with Minimum 22 K Gold ‘.416 Rigby’ Calibre detail. All Cross Bar Recoil Screws Also Engraved and Colour Case finished. Matching Colour Hardened Rotary Style Safety mounted to the rear of the Bolt itself. As such, no need for high scope mounts if wanted.
Barrel is currently fitted with a single leaf rear ‘V’ / open sight. I am informed it’s a remarkably accurate rifle at 65 yards for such a large calibre. Obviously, that also transfers to whatever distance a target may be. However, the base dovetail will take a replacement slide in multiple / additional folding leaf site options if required. Also to note: the Front Sight/s. As pictured, there is the usual Fixed Smaller Brass Bead and then a ‘Double Sized’ Fold up / Down White. Purposely designed for use in low and or poor light conditions. The action is also pre-drilled and tapped ready to accept suitable scope bases and rings. Happy to supply if needed. Various options always available in stock. Along with suitable scopes from various manufacturers.
I may well take this out and test fire over the open sights. Just to see / try it for myself. THIS IS something to factor in for that ‘bucket list’ trip for Africa, North +/or South America as well as the Arctic. Then cherish for a while before letting it back onto the open market for the next LUCKY fella!
