.375 Holland & Holland Sauer, Model 202 Elegance, Bolt Action Rifle.
23 ¾” (603mm) INTERCHANGEABLE Barrel set to a Stock Trigger Pull of 14” (355mm). Combined, they bring in an Overall Length at 44 1/8” (1120mm) and Bare Weight of 8 Lb 13 oz (3.995 Kg).
Single Fixed Open / Iron Sights, Detachable Magazine and Tang Mounted Safety so good from either shoulder. The rifle also has a ‘Set or Hair’ Trigger option that NO ONE need fear. No idea quite why the UK shooting community shy away from these triggers. You DO have the opportunity to simply not use them. OR (and a WAY BETTER OPTION) simply learn how to safely disengage it. For this particular rifle ALL you need to do push the Safety button back down from the top of the tang. THAT IS IT! Doing so disengages the hair trigger and, obviously, returns the rifle to ‘Safety ON’.
As detailed, these rifles also feature an EASILY changeable Barrel System. An extension Allen Key drops into the For-end via a hole once the QD Sling Swivel is removed. That allows the For-end to be unfastened and slid away to reveal the Barrel Clamp Screws. Undo, swap out, put back together and ready to go. That said, given this IS a Magnum Calibre and Action, calibre choices will need to match. (It’s a bigger Bolt Diameter than the more usual / Standard).
The Stock itself is technically Right-handed. A Raised Cheek Rest to the left and Checkered Palm Swell on the Right. However, a Left-Handed shot CAN easily use it as is. It’s simply a Straight Through Cheek Rest position and Grip. Yes, your last three fingers slightly more open wrapping around the palm swell on the wrong side. WOW! I only detail this for any ‘South Paws’ out there looking for a Big Bore Rifle. OK, the Bolt operation is still on the right but so will just about everything out there. Plus, dedicated right-handed safeties. Anyway, if a left hander you already KNOW. This just offers up a possible solution and IS well worth at least looking at.
All Checkering is still Clean, Crisp and Sharp. A GOOD Strong Straight Grain through the Wrist with some Excellent Pattern and Colour Contrast. There is also some Nice Cross Grain Tiger Stripe patterning too. A Rosewood Schnable style For-end and Grip Cap.
There are a couple of minor marks / patches to the original Metal finish on the Action. Basically, one to the front L/H and the second just below the Bolt Handle. Quite HOW or what managed to do or cause either is a mystery. Neither are much at all and both will touch up relatively easily.
