Sako Model L61R FINNBEAR .264 Winchester Magnum Bolt Action Sporting Rifle. A calibre SO loved and developed by The Iconic and World Renowned David Lloyd. Certainly one of if not his firm favourite calibre and most of his rifles produced in this HARD Hitting LONG Range Round. Specifically designed for use on the open hill in Scotland for Red Deer Stalking.
24 ¼” (615mm) Original Barrel set to a stock length of 13 ¾” (350mm) Trigger Pull. Tips scales as the bare rifle at 8 Lbs 6 oz (3.793 Kg) and measures 44 7/8” (1140mm) Overall.
As such a fare bare weight but this WILL be appreciated considering it’s a TRUE Magnum Calibre. Recoil IS there but not uncomfortable as long as you DO shoulder the rifle.
Given the calibre, rifle model, age and condition this IS a definite candidate for my ‘Sleepers’ category. The only real minor issue is the slightly compressed original recoil pad. Obviously been stood and never moved for long enough for this to happen. Chequering is still pretty crisp and well defined all over. Personally I would have liked the rifle more if the woodwork was prettier. Equally many actually prefer a plainer stock. This does have some pattern but the original darker finish does little to show this off.
This is still fitted with its original Iron / Open Sights. The Rear having Windage and Height Adjustment facilities with Elevation running between 100 and 500 yards / metre. ….Again showing what the calibre IS clearly well capable of achieving.
Plenty of contemporary accessories in stock if required. Period mounts as well as scopes, bi-pods, rifle slings and gun slips etc.
