RARE and Very Nice example of this Sako M78 Bolt Action Rifle in .22 Hornet Calibre. Certainly an absolutely CLASSIC and Very Collectable example but also extremely useable at the same time too. CERTAINLY more than tidy enough for a pre-used gun now over 45 years old.
22 ½” (570mm) Original Barrel set to a stock pull of 13 ½” (343mm). Tips the scales at a neat 6 Lbs 5 ½ oz (2.880 Kg) and overall length of 40 3/8” (1025mm).
Not sure at all about what the Stock timber actually is. Could easily be Stained Birch looking at how tight the Strong Straight Grain is. Chequering is still Clean, Crisp and Sharpe too. It’s a Very Light Coloured Stock even with the staining. Also mild damage to the forend from the slings buckle. Nothing too bad, more just a shame it happened.
The action drilled and threaded ready to accept correct bases, rings and scope of choice. I may have suitable items available here and ready to supply. If not I can always order in to suite whatever scope. Some Very Light wear to the original Bolt Knob and that is about as much as there is.
I may well have suitable matching bases here already but will need to check. If not they can be ordered in and delivered.
A nice little touch is the Ballistic Data stuck to the Forend with ACTUAL Bullet Drop details out to a distance of 250 yards. This is and will be left intact until a new owner decides. Either keep and make use of the data. Or remove it and rely on yourself to put the details somewhere else.
