MAUSER MODEL 66 .243 SPARE BARREL ONLY.

An ‘Oldie but Still a Goodie’ Spare / Replacement Barrel to fit The Original ‘Quick Change’ Mauser Model 66. Original Blueing is showing a little wear but lets get REAL. These guns are all circa the 1960’s so hardly ‘spring chickens’ any more. Equally they WERE SERIOUSLY well made back then as was most stuff.

Check out prices realised over that BIG puddle (generally known as the Atlantic). Its not that often I agree with our American ‘cousins’. However they seem to have zero problem with paying a fare price for quality and these rifles ARE certainly that.

The general RUBBISH posted on forums: ‘The bolt can / hits you when you re-load’ brigade: WHO keeps their head locked onto a stock when reloading in a sporting scenario? If so basically waving a rifle about as they try to watch any reaction to shot. At the same time slamming a follow up LIVE round home! NO. Lift your head, WATCH with both eyes while the muzzle drops to a safe point. IF a follow up is needed by all means shoulder, aim and shoot. It’s a pretty fundamental safety conscious procedure and at NO time can the bolt come remotely close to your precious little ‘bubby’ face.

Anyway, back to the barrel. The afore mensioned ware is mainly to the Front Sling Point Barrel Band. The Original Open / Iron Sights  still in place. Scope mounts MAY be available. There ARE modern day Picatiny rails in Germany as well as elsewhere. I do have some older original Q.D Claw Bases but they will only match contemporary rings. More modern options have different sized and centred claws. That said if this is for a replacement or calibre swap then you should already have suitable matching mounts already.

A RARE FIND THESE DAYS. If it gets your old rifle back up and shooting its worth every last penny and more.
