Plus, all the follow up / secondary shot chances missed because you were too busy doing that or even watching where spent cartridges landed.
As things go I have just disabled two O/U shotguns ejectors for a customer for EXACTLY these reasons! Stick with it if that’s what floats your boat, OR use what’s between your lugs.

A Bright Finished Action, Profusely Engraved to the lower half. Flighting Woodcock to the Right, A Single Grouse to the bottom and Mallards to the Left. A Pretty Lighter coloured stock with Strong Straight Grain. It could well be Maple Walnut with Excellent and Extensive Very Fine Cross Grain Tiger Stripe Highlights to both sides. A little ‘Cracker’, especially at this money.
Simple answer: Just use a suitable alternative. Plenty of options already with more appearing regularly. Yes, they may well cost a few quid per thousand more but how many are you shooting each season? If it’s into the 10’s of thousands, you CAN WELL AFFORD to pay whatever. If it’s a slab or two of 250 it’s an extra £200 or ess for your ENTIRE years shooting. It IS also a HUGE SAVING. Especially given the costs of changing things out for a replacement new or even pre-used steel approved O/U. THEN having to learn to shoot all over again with a gun brand new to you.
TO ME it makes little to zero sense at all. BUT, I appreciate, that COULD just be Me!
As with many of my adverts for shotguns these days: If lead is SO Sodding dangerous can ANYONE ANSWER ME THIS: WHY are all the old lead water mains to well over 60% of the population not getting replaced as a HUGE matter of concern and urgency? The only REAL answer I can come up with is Wildlife matters and the human population doesn’t. That is where LOGIC takes you. Call me sceptical but I suspect it’s more political where guns are concerned. Also, it’s a WONDERFUL way to get those who still shoot to spend money on kit they do not really want or need.
