18 ¼” (463mm) Barrel, Pre-screw cut standard ½” x 20 TPI UNF, ready for a sound moderator of choice. PLENTY available in stock new as well as pre-used. One of the older style Original Parker Hale will be 100% contemporary to a rifle like this. Happy to include one with the gun. Stock pull measures to 13 5/8” (353mm) bringing in an OAL of 36 5/8” (930mm). Bare weight at 5 lbs 10 ½ oz (2.566 Kg).
The debate rumbles on about these older model Brno / CZ-Brno and CZ rifles. In reality I have seen many more than most who simply want an GREAT Inexpensive rifle to get out with and SHOOT. ALL of the guns from BRNO and for many years after the CZ amalgamation are generally equally as nice. Many brands still around past a certain date are generally all considered ‘better quality’ than their modern day equivalents. ‘Truth’ is back then everything WILL have had more ‘human touch’ by way of final fit and finish. Today near every last bit is automated machinery. Better or worse? CNC machining IS SO much more accurate time after time. No argument to be made. However, there is NOTHING out there to beat that ‘human touch’. Especially when its for human interaction.
However, as with anything, its all about the individual. If you prefer ‘shiny and brand new’ I can also organise one of those for you. Anyone born in 1990 this is possibly a nice touch that will appeal for a birthday or even simple ‘treat’. Grow older ‘together’ from here on out and see which is still faring best 34 years from now???
Metal work is in generally FINE condition throughout. Even the Bolt Handle retaining near 100% Original Blueing finish. A great plus but the REAL Appeal with this rifle is its Stock.
YES, there are a few light abrasions and blemishes. However, nothing that would not lift out with the steam of a GOOD brew, possibly two!
Not entirely sure but will also detail this as Maple Walnut given the Much Lighter Colour and appearance. Most are substantially darker. Generally EXCELLENT Grain Pattern from one end to the other AND down Each Side. DEEP Colour Contrast with Swirl and Cross Grain Highlights throughout. All the way from the original Brand Logo Stamped Butt Plate to the Schnable Forend Tip.
Can’t QUITE bring myself to put this into my ‘SLEEPER’ category as it has been used JUST a little past ‘entry’. However, it HAS obviously been cherished and well looked after up to now. If Durham Licencing were not as diabolical as they are I would give serious consideration into an FAC variation. Swapping out my existing rifle for this. WHO KNOWS…things might improve!
