To be more precise a later versions of the BSA 12/15 Martini Action .22 Rim-Fire Target Rifles. Previous owner having a couple of personal upgrades to allow easy long range pest control as well as target shooting. 29” (735mm) Barrel now Screw cut for a sound moderator in standard ½” x 20 UNF. Yes, a LONG barrel but he assures me it is well worth it for the additional ACCURATE range it offers. Stock pull measures to 14 5/8” (365mm) and brings in an overall length at 44 ¾” (1137mm). The bare rifle as pictured weighing in at 8 Lbs 1 ½ oz (3.666Kg).
Chequering to Forend and Grip Woodwork suggests this is a Deluxe version. Some Very Nice Dark Grain Pattern with Cross Pattern Tiger Stripe Highlights. Schnable Forend finishing things off.
As said, the previous owner used this for both Target / range work as well as rabbit and pest control. Approaching his 80’s and increasing ill health he could not sensibly continue either. The other adjustment done was to Neatly grind out some of the loading block and side wall. It DOES allow for a much faster, easier and cleaner load and extraction of cases.
Barrel is also pre-drilled and tapped to accept suitable scope bases. The same applies to an original Dioptre Sight pair. Sadly he cannot remember / find where they are tucked away.
Admittedly probably not for this rifle. BUT ALL AMONGST THE BEST OF BEST QUALITY AVAILABLE as they have been and WILL ALWAYS REMAIN. Hopefully you have other guns that WOULD benefit from one!
