Original BRNO ZKK 602 Bolt Action ‘SAFARI’ Rifle in a ‘BIG BOY’s’ .458 Winchester Magnum.

25” (635mm) Barrel set to a Stock / Trigger Pull of 14 ½” (370mm) and Overall length of 46 ½” (1180mm). Scales register a bare weight, as pictured, of 8 Lb 11 ½ oz (3.955 Kg).

The exact same / usual story found with most (95% plus) ‘BIG’ Calibre Rifles like this. Little evidence of much use at all since brand new in 1989. I won’t call it a 37-year-old virgin but its close. Most are bought to fulfill a once in a lifetime / bucket list dream. A trip to Africa or elsewhere to go on Safari / shoot something BIG (and usually Dangerous). Not many have the funds available to do that more than once or twice. As such, REALISTICALLY, how many shots CAN be fired in preparation or actual live quarry shooting? Apart from anything else, every squeeze of the trigger is no small cost in itself these days. ‘Small fry’ against an entire trip but to simply ‘bang away’ on paper with one needs DEEP pockets.

Semi Hogs Back Stock with Raised Cheek Rest and only one blemish worth note. Approx. half-way down the right-hand side. A light, just off vertical scratch that would / should steam out reasonably easily if needed. A Rather Nice Strong Straight Grain, especially through the Grip, and Decent Colour Contrast too.

The action machined to accept any specialist matching BRNO or CZ 550 style scope rings. With Built in Recoil Lug to locate into the matching rear Action Ring on the Left-hand side. However, DO NOTE, this is a more modern version. NO built in Spring Loaded ‘Pop up’ Rear Peep Sight to the rear of the action.

The Bore appears near immaculate inside too. Traditional Open / Iron Sights also still present with 3 distance options. A fixed position detailed for 100 yards / meters plus two flip up / down options. One stamped 200 and the other 300. Even the Original Front Bead Protector is still in situ.

This also comes with a Single Set Trigger. As such, VERY Possibly a HUGE help if you struggle with the recoil.

YES, I KNOW people in the UK tend to shy away from these ’Set’ or ‘Hair’ triggers. What I have NEVER understood is WHY!

The ONLY thing anyone needs to do is learn how to put the trigger / rifle back into its standard trigger position and / or safe. It IS usually THE SIMPLEST of operation too. Quite frankly, if that is beyond capabilities, there is more than fare argument to say STOP shooting!

Benefits, especially with heavy calibre / heavy recoil rifles are usually many. Once people get used to one in a ‘standard’ calibre their accuracy usually see’s SERIOUS improvement. With a relatively heavy recoiling gun it is usually ‘night and day’ improvement. Mainly because the round is 300 yards down range BEFORE you can even think about flinching or closing your eye!
