Italian made 3” (75mm) Chambered 12g Semi-Automatic Magnum Shotgun Model 710 by Breda. The 28” (710mm) Barrel with a 15” (380mm) Stock brings in an overall length at 49 ½” (1257mm). At 8 Lbs 4 oz (3.746 Kg) these are solidly and well made guns.
Considered to be amongst the Very Best of what was available for pest control when you could buy new. Also THE Wildfowling No1 choice as always reliable and worked regardless of weather, muck or cold.
Quite a Highly Decorative Walnut stock, currently shown with an inch (25mm) extension. Should easily remove and put the pull back to circa 14” (355mm) if that would work better.
Scroll work Engraved Action body. A nice, very handy feature is the Safety which easily switches for left or right handed operation. Simply push the pin out through the action and push back in from the other side. As such easily used from either shoulder and ambidextrous in all but case ejection.
Though unusual externally fitted. I.E. they screw onto the outside of the barrel. Cylinder extends the barrel by approx. ¾” (20mm). Full choke adds circa 3” (75mm). Half choke, pictured, is approx. half way between, as it would be. This also has a reasonable right handed cast so maybe not so ambidextrous but it could still work. Only way is to try the thing a few times. Beautifully Designed, Engineered and Made. Take one apart and lay things out then do the same with most of the modern options. Sling points fitted as standard.
Not yet had one of the 2020-2021 930i or Titano models in hand or stripped apart. They LOOK to be very similar in action design. If still to the same SUPERBLY HIGH Standard then WELL DONE Breda for bucking the trend these days. Given cost new (take a look for yourself at circa £1500 and up) I would sincerely hope they are.
Take one of these old guns apart to SEE the Build quality and just how Well Designed they are. Almost on par with the old Browning Auto Five….which says a LOT.
Similarly these can also be set up to cycle light and heavy loads. (Provided the correct friction rings are still in place etc.).
I generally carry a couple of these guns in stock for spares. No need to worry IF anything IS ever needed.
