.22 Hornet Model 1730 Bolt Action Rifle from Anschutz. TOP of their range when these were still an option and circa £1800 plus when you could still buy new. Other than a few very minor marks to the original varnish this appears not far from out of its box. Roll Over Cheek Piece Walnut stock with a 14” (355mm) pull. The Fox or Skip Cut Chequering and Schnabel Forend. ALWAYS nice features that set a rifle stock off that bit better and add that extra touch of quality and class. Some nice highlights just add even more.
23 ½” (597mm) original Barrel with open sights and flip up rear adjustable. Pre-threaded a standard ½” x 20 UNF. Plenty of suitable Sound Moderators in stock to choose from too.
Overall the rifle tips scales as it stands at 7 Lbs 1 oz (3.204 kg) with an overall length of 42 ½” (1078mm). This has a standard operation single trigger. Unusual as most have set or hair units fitted.
A calibre that fell well away from favour and should never have done so. Languishing there far too long but now getting re-discovered FAST. A SUPERB round easily capable of accounting for small game and / or vermin out to any sensible range. Thankfully once again beginning to find favour again with an ever growing and healthy new following. I have shot one myself for years and they are simply a joy in the right circumstances.
