An Original Model 700 Remington ‘POLICE SNIPER’ Model Varmint / Target Bolt Action Rifle in .223. Finished all over in Tactical Black. Named at the time because these were THE rifles used across all UK police forces armed response units. Also, many other countries Worldwide, INCLUDING Military Units. Watch films made recently and it’s still THESE Rifles shown in many scenes.
This is yet another rifle, sadly, all in from the same fella, now retiring from shooting. One of the main issues being our local FAC licensing department! Everything is in generally Excellent Condition and regularly cleaned. A true ‘old school rifleman’. In fact, there is a second Remington ‘VSSF Sendero’ model being listed too.
26″ (660mm) Stainless Steel Best Quality Fluted Heavy Weight Varmint Target Barrel. Stock pull measures at 13 5/8″ (345mm) and brings in an overall length of 45 3/4″ (1163mm). Scales register a bare weight, as pictured, of 9Lb 10 oz (4.365 Kg).
100% Rigid HS Precision Stock in Plain Black. This also now has a Great Trigger pull. Again, certainly appears some good work carried out to the original unit. A HUGE improvement to how Remington triggers used to be like. For anyone too young to know …. BE GREATFULL!
I do remember my first (in .22-250). I also recall that quite a few foxes left the ‘arena’ unscathed other than a fright, because of its trigger. In the end I re-worked mine. After that very little missed ‘meeting its maker’. I currently have the same rifle in .220 Swift and that will shoot the same hole on demand. As long as I do my part. No reason to imagine this is not equally capable and accurate.
Current Manufacturers Spec. Details a 1:8 twist so should be perfectly happy with any bullet weight choice. It’s also possible it could be 1:9. Even if it is that is still tight enough to stabilize anything going through. Magazine capacity is also detailed as 5 plus 1 in the chamber. If you have ANY shooting where that is not double what’s needed at any single encounter I want inviting. This also comes with its Original Paperwork / Manual too. Another clue as to how well the fella looked after his gear.
