Original Steyr Mannlicher Schoenauer Bolt Action Sporting Rifle in 7×57 (.275 Rigby). They ARE ONE and THE SAME cartridge regardless of what some think and ‘opinion ate’ on ‘tauld tinterweb’! HOWEVER, this rifle is not actually detailed. As such either (or better still BOTH) will be needed on your FAC to purchase.
As it is I shoot one of these rifles myself. Have done for MANY years. Mine IS unusually detailed for .275. I always assumed produced specifically for the UK market rather than the Mainland European / Continental Metric spec. Personally, I consider these amongst THE BEST Sporting Rifles EVER MADE. Design, Engineering and Quality are seriously difficult to beat ANYWHERE.
Anyone already looking Very Likely already knows!
23 ½” (597mm) Barrel, set to a Stock / Trigger Pull length of 14 ½”. They bring an overall 44 7/8” (1140mm) and tip scales bare at 7 Lb 3 oz (3.263 Kg).
The action already pre-drilled ready to accept suitable / matching scope mounts. These are usually Ernst-Apel and still readily available to order. Alternatively, simply shoot it over the existing, original open / iron sights. Quite a few experienced shots going back to shooting this way too. Basically, sick and tired of letting the scope (and all the other modern-day tech (JUNK) do the job!
However, IF a scope is ‘needed’ I can organize said mounts. You can even opt for 30mm tubes and above! Have that ‘torpedo’ or even ‘submarine’ sat on top.
A Strong Straight Grained Stock running from tip to toe right through. Metal work is still in Excellent Condition too. As IS the bore, with fare consideration given to its age and being a pre-used rifle. (It’s way better than my own. Which will still give a sub inch group if I do my part). Checkering is also still Well Defined. The usual hinged trap door storage to the butt plate too.
