20” (510mm) Barrel set to a stock pull of 14” (355mm). Overall length finishes 39 1/8” (993mm) and a Bare Weight of 5 Lb 11 ½ oz. (2.596 Kg).
I consider the rifle to be in Generally Excellent Condition throughout. ESPECIALLY given date of manufacture. At the time of listing this rifle is a year away from turning 60. The date stamp to the side of Proof House marks detailing ‘67’.
The ONLY real detrimental comment being the missing rear open / iron site. That said, there is more than fare chance I will have an alternative in the workshop. Equally, if mounting a scope, its likely not needed. As usual, THAT will be the reason it was removed to begin with.
The Stock is a somewhat plain but Tightly packed Strong Straight Grain. Probably a GOOD sign, especially for any rifle with a full length Stutzen Style Stock. Way less chance of any detrimental movement and certainly more stable. It even retains the original Semi-Gloss Varnish finish. Look closely and this shows a Very Light ‘Crackling’ pattern, generally all over. That said, it is all in close to 100% intact with any other blemishes almost non-existent.
Standard ½” (12mm) Scope Dovetail machined to the action top. The forward portion Correctly Stamped with the Steyr manufacture Logo. The rear Engraved with ‘Zephyr’.
As for use to date simply look at the Bolt Knob condition. Original Blued finish is still circa 98% as new. The rest of the rifle is pretty close too. Chequering still well defined and very clean. A Raised Cheek Rest finishing things nicely too.
The action is also pre-drilled and tapped with a couple of holes to the side. I assume ready to accept a Parker Hale PH 16 or similar rear Dioptre Target Sight. I have a few in stock so easy enough to add if wanted too.
