STEYR .22 RIM FIRE BOLT ACTION ORIGINAL ZEPHYR RIFLE.

.22 Rim Fire ORIGINAL Steyr Zephyr Bolt Action Rifle.

YES…NOT one of the ‘new’ models riding on the back of these great originals.

Sadly the original Steyr Logo has been all but removed! The front scope mount dovetail is itself braised onto a second at 90 degrees. This fits into a corresponding cross bore dovetail. Cut into the front end of the action where the logo stamp usually is. The only evidence left is a small portion of the circle that surrounds the original name. In reality a very neat job. Just a crying shame they did not decide to position the base to the chamber area. OR simply use a cantilever front mount from the original dovetail machined to the rear section! The rear scope mount dovetail is simply screwed in place on top of the action dovetail.

IT IS still an original rifle though so RARE, SOUGHT AFTER and COLLECTABLE, even as it is.

19 5/8” (498mm) barrel in excellent condition with the original finish still a deep and lustrous blue. Detailed as ‘Made in Austria and actually stamped 6mm…..(which does not exist)! It also features a fixed position Sling swivel attachment, just like a traditional Safari format. It is possible I will have a suitable replacement rear open sight if required. The front ramp and bead are as original. The shroud is not missing. There is no place to actually fit one.

A Bright Finished Bolt with Butter Knife handle and a traditional Flag Style safety to the rear.

A Very Nice example with its Very Well Figured Maple Walnut Stock. Pull is 13 7/8” (353mm) which brings the rifle in at an overall length of 39 ½” (1003mm). Chequering is still in very clean condition. Reasonably sharp in the hand with the raised cheek piece also still well defined. It finishes off with an inlet steel butt plate along with a still vacant oval.

Bare weight 6 Lbs 3 oz. (2.8 Kg).

As said, these are RARE rifles today. With the Logo intact this would be substantially more money. It is also possible I have a spare magazine as this does look familiar. I will have to check and it will be an addition cost.
