Almost AS NEW Rifle Stock from an Older Sako .270 Model AV Bolt Action rifle. I actually have the Barrelled Action here too as the gun came in minus the bolt MANY years ago. The fella in question started moving house a few times in a few years almost immediately after buying it. He then found zero time to actually shoot it and somehow misplaced the bolt along the way. Keeping the rifle for years in the hope it would actually turn up. By the time he gave up on that Sako could no longer supply a replacement bolt for this model.
Eventually the rifle ended up with me. In my naivety I also hoped I would be able to pick up a battered and / or broken rifle. The same calibre length and every chance it would simply swap out, re-proof and be good to go. Now at the ‘sick to death of waiting stage’ so the stock is up for grabs. I would guess its been sitting locked away in the workshop here for over 10 years.
Anyone with a half decent AV Model Long Action rifle that still shoots well? Want to give it a good overhaul, refinish and refurbishment? If so this IS the hardest part all ready to get going with.
Action Screw Centres are approx. 7 25/32” (197mm) apart. The Stock itself looks to be Maple Walnut and has some excellent Grain Pattern. Chequering is almost showroom condition too.
It may well accept other earlier or later model rifles too.
PLEASE bear in mind the prices on Replacement / Pre-used Gun Stocks reflect the COST in money as well as time. Guns have to be purchased, booked in, stripped down, pressure bearing parts destroyed, and the police notified. THEN photos taken, prepared and adverts posted of what is left.
I DO NOT DO this to ‘make money’. A lot of the simpler / older options are to allow you ‘die hard’ enthusiasts to continue in your own way.
