A GENUINE Rigby .275 (7×57) Bolt Action Rifle all Fully Engraved in their ‘Trade Mark’ Gothic Script pattern.
The 24 ½” (623mm) Lightweight and unsighted barrel is detailed with JOHN RIGBY & Co. 13 PALL MALL, LONDON. SW1 with RIGBY and .275 along and across the bore line. The hinged magazine floor plate also has engraving with the details RIGBY and .275 inset in Gold.
The HIGHLY decorative stock has some EXCELLENT Dark Striped and contrasting grain pattern throughout. With a pull length of 14 1/8” (358mm) the rifle finishes at 45 5/8” (1160mm) overall including the ½” (12mm) Pachmayer butt pad. Finished with a large raised cheek piece and Brown Horn (?) tip to the forend and pistol grip cap.
I assume the Bolt will originally have had a typical ‘Flag’ safety. Now fitted with a Parker Hale patented ‘Low Level’ option. This is a common improvement found on many traditional Mauser actioned rifles. Adding to the mystery there is also a side safety fitted, both working perfectly well. Looking at the stock that appears to have been there ‘for ever’ too. It is anyone’s guess as to exactly what the true history is.
The rifle tips the scales at 7 Lbs 3 ½ oz (3.278 Kg).
The stock has minimum marks from any use and is actually quite ‘heavy’. By that I mean it is also quite well proportioned compared to many other similar guns. The dimensions seem just that bit bigger for width, depth even the size of cheek piece. Very likely something most people would never even notice and certainly nothing to be concerned over. I just add the detail. All in all this is a Very Nice and FINE example from a Very sought after rifle.
There IS a Windage Adjustable Bridge base plate scope mount that came with the rifle. It appears to be Leupold and I am happy to include it with the gun. IF I have a suitable set of rings to match a scope I am happy to add these too. Alternatively I can supply anything else you might have a preference toward. I will have a number of suitable pre-used options available from stock.
