A TRULY FANTASTIC Example of Germany’s FINEST main Gun Makers Best Quality 12g Over and Under Model 203E Merkel Shotgun. JUST SUPERB Craftsmanship throughout and Certainly a PRIME Candidate for anyone wanting TOP QUALITY but different. If you are one to follow the rest of the flock then FINE, continue. If you have an occasional thought of your own then guns like this are Very Likely to actually APPEAL.
DO Please bear in mind this is a TRUE Hand Detachable Side Lock Over and Under Single Trigger Shotgun. As already stated they ARE Beautifully made with the internals all polished for the smoothest possible operation.
26 ¾” (680mm) Fixed Choke Barrels at ¾ and Full Restrictions. 2 ¾” (70mm) NONE STEEL Proof Chambers but SO WHAT? …..(READ ON TO THE END).
A LONG 15” (380mm) Highly Decorative Walnut Stock with Extra Fine Hand Cut Chequering and POW Pistol Grip. Finished with a Buffalo Horn Cap. Scales register a weight at 7 Lbs 5 oz (3.319 Kg) so relatively light for what it is. Certainly easier to carry around for a days walked up than the average 12g over and under. Overall length at approx. 44” (1120mm).
Three Piece Forend with the top portions screwed in pace to the barrel ribs. Manual Safety and a Single Selective Trigger for choice of first barrel etc. Single Front RED High Viz Sight bead to the Narrow Ventilated Top Rib.
The gun does have a Right Hand Cast along with a Gentle Palm Swell to match.
Action all Very Nicely Hand Engraved too. As said, simply THE BEST that main stream German Gun making has to offer. TRULY CLASSIC Guns and CERTAINLY WELL worth considering if you want something of SERIOUS Quality. Not least because you are NO SHEEP and choose not to follow the usual flock!
THERE ARE more and more None Toxic Shot alternatives being produced. WITH near matching performances to traditional lead and close to, if not matching pressures. Take a look at Horton Gunmakers for their own entry into this debacle of modern day shooting. IF its so lethally deadly to shooters and game eaters how is it every old lead water main supply pipe is not getting ripped out and replaced? To my mind it’s a DISGRACE that the shooting industry did not simply ask that one simple question. NO, they saw an excuse to charge a fortune and that mainly to the detriment of the quarry. Just my opinion …..for what its worth?
Anyway, take a look for yourself:

NOW, to TRY and help speed up availability I WILL also suggest that YOU pass on details to everyone you know who shoots. Then ALL of us start to ask whoever we buy from why they are not DEMANDING cartridges made in this material? Basically VOTE with your WALLET.
YES, it will take a little time for everything to filter through but patience IS a virtue. It also allows everyone who wants to keep hold of their ‘old favourite’ for the rest of their lives. Even pass it on to the next generation and hopefully beyond!
On that note I AM looking into the possibility of stocking some direct from Steve at Hortons. RING for an update and keep checking the web site.
