Classic Mauser 66 Sliding / Bolt Action rifle in 7×57. It’s other name IS ‘THE .275 RIGBY’. A round to surprise anyone who has not, as yet, had the pleasure. THIS IS the calibre chosen by John Rigby as his favourite for GOOD reason.
People say they don’t like this type of action. Apparently it is ‘off putting’ as you bring the bolt back to load a second round ?
Ive yet to see anyone keep their face against the stock as they load a second round. IF they are busy watching the results of the first strike (as they should be) their head is well away from the stock.
These were, in effect, the first production inter changeable barrelled rifles available. They handle amazingly well. Compact, accurate and superbly engineered as all MAUSER Mauser rifles are. Still in superb condition this retains good colour to the action and barrel.
A Double set adjustable trigger finishes things off. Personally I like these rifles but agree they fall into the ‘Marmite’ category….you either LOVE them or hate them!
Mounts and scope will be required but I CAN source these so scope option / choice is wide open to suit you.
Barrel is currently an original 23 1/2″ (595mm) and a Trigger Pull length of 14 14 1/4″ (362mm). Overall these feel remarkably Compact Rifles and finish at ( ) tipping scales Bare at Lb oz ( Kg).
