In some ways a shame that the barrel has been reduced and threaded for a sound moderator. In other ways it HAS made this SUPERB quality rifle a far more useable gun.
PLEASE NOTE THIS RIFLE WILL COME WITH A 5 ROUND MAGAZINE AND NOT THE 10 SHOT SHOWN.
NO DOUBT still highly accurate for normal .22 rim fire target shooting. It is now light enough to be used for everyday (or night time) vermin control too.
Original Mauser Butt plate still fitted and the Mauser logo to the right face of the butt (though only light). The action is a delight. Just about a direct copy of a standard Mauser 98 but on a mini scale. It even has the standard 3 position flag safety!
The quality is superb. Even the magazine is ‘bull nosed’ to the front so as to be as neat and small as possible but shaped to protect the actual bullet when loaded.
would suggest this could well be circa 1930’s and earlier. Possibly a model ES340 but the only other examples I can find at present have only lighter weight barrels.
The rear original open sights have been removed, AGAIN, a shame, especially when reasonably high mounts are already required to accommodate the flag safety …… it never ceases to amaze me just how big an objective lens people THINK they need these days!
Even so, all in all, still a GREAT little rifle.
