Description

MANNLICHER SCHOENAUER .270 BOLT ACTION RIFLE FROM STEYR.

Model GK .270 Mannlicher Schoenauer Bolt Action Rifle. 22” (560mm) threaded barrel so already no need to worry about recoil or report. I think these rifles are exceptional in design, quality and build. Not made any more as no doubt retail would be well out of the reach of most people.

Front action ring is fully and correctly stamped / engraved with

Traditional Integral but Detachable Rotary magazine which are a joy in themselves. Plus the ‘easy out’ magazine release button to offer a near instant unload of any and all straight out of the top load / ejection post. Swept back butter knife bolt handle keeps the slim and flowing lines intact. Overall the rifle is 7 Lbs 8 ½ oz (3.412 Kg) as pictured and a total length of 43 1/8” (1095mm). Pull to the relatively plain but strong straight grained stock is 14 3/16” (360mm). There is some cross grain Tiger Stripe and with some work this stock could look a LOT better. It finishes with a black Buffalo horn (?) tip and grip cap.

The rifle has the original and traditional 3 position Rotary Flag safety to the back of the bolt. IT ALSO has the more modern updated side mounted safe too. Both work …..which could be a good thing especially whilst stalking with a live round in the chamber on final approach.

INCLUDED with the rifle is the full set of 1” / 26mm Scope Mounts. The side mounted bracket offers up the platform for the matching scope section to slide on and lock into place. To my mind NO, you don’t need or want a 30mm or bigger tube scope on a traditional rifle like this. Can’t get close enough for a confident and accurate shot with a traditional / standard inch tube scope? Take up fishing!

SCHOENAUER RIFLES.

I actually shoot one of these rifles myself in .275 and they are a ‘delight’. The engineering and design is SUPERB. I have yet to find anything I would consider to be better.

A TRUE CLASSIC that are becoming harder and harder to find in any condition let alone as clean as this. They are also getting more and more expensive to buy even IF you can find one. The rotary magazine found on these rifles offer flawless feed. They have a quick unload button or can easily remove by depressing a small catch and rotating the floor plate.
