Description

JOHN RIGBY & Co 12G SIDE BY SIDE SHOTGUN.

How about a 12G Side by Side Shotgun (and not the usual Rifle) from the Iconic Irish Gunmaker John Rigby. Box Lock Ejector with 28” (710mm) Fixed Choke Barrels at Cyl and ¼ restrictions, Chambered at 2 ¾” (70mm).  Walls are 30,000+ all over so a LOT of life still available in this gun.

A Long 14 3/4” (375mm) Trigger Pull that together brings in an overall length at a straight 45” (1142mm). It should suit someone tall and slim (ISH) perfectly. Scales register a carry weight of 6 Lbs 9 ½ oz (2.995 Kg).

Plain, Bright finished action and metal work Except for the Top Lever, still Well Blued. The trigger Guard and Action Bottom Plate have lost their original finish. Now they all but match the main action body. I reality an easy enough ‘fix’ but the gun looks none the worse for wear as it is.

Somewhat unusual for a British or Irish made shotgun but this also features Striker Disc Plates to the Action Face. As such EASY firing pin replacement with the correct tool. No need to strip the stock and action down IF replacements are EVER needed.

Concave Rib leading to a Single Sight Bead with the Breach end of the Barrels offering a Superbly Strong 3 Point Lock up.

A VERY Bonny Strong and Straight grained Stock with some Excellent Dark Colour Contrasting Stripes. There is even the beginnings of some ‘Tiger’ Cross Grain Pattern to the Right Hand side immediately behind the action. Tear Drop Features too. Always a sign of Higher End / Higher Grade and Quality guns. As from the images this is currently fitted with a 2nd finger recoil buffer to the rear of the trigger guard. It can remain but equally just try using a slightly lighter load in whatever cartridge you choose. If its on target its on target. You can throw out 1 ½ Lbs of shot and end up sat on your backside. However, if its not in the right place at the right time it’s a straight miss.

As detailed, Rigby is FAR better known for his Sporting Rifles. FAMOUSLY KNOWN and WELL Sort after World Wide by discerning Sportsmen who Appreciate Superb Quality Firearms.

His Shotguns are of no lesser Quality. How could they be when reputation and standing has to be maintained. As such the name alone should inspire confidence as well as near enough sell the gun itself.

NOW which True Blooded Irish Man is going to rescue this from my ‘FILTHY’ English grip and reunite THEIR heritage? DO bear in mind that until THAT HAPPENS the gun is open to anyone to buy and possess. OOO… the THOUGHT alone must be making some of you TWIST, WINCE,  TWITCH and CURSE! BEST NOT WAIT is my advice.

Equally, the same applies to any Englishman out there who wants to ‘rub’ an Irish shooting friend up! Turn up with this next season and throw them COMPLETELY off their game!!!!

I SHOULD turn this into an auction and watch the ‘teeth and fur’ FLY.

ALL GREAT FRIENDLY CRAIC!

WORRIED ABOUT STEEL SH-T FIASCO? DO PLEASE READ TO THE BOTTOM:

THERE ARE more and more None Toxic Shot alternatives being produced. WITH near matching performances to traditional lead and close to, if not matching pressures. Take a look at Horton Gunmakers for their own entry into this debacle of modern day shooting. IF its so lethally deadly to shooters and game eaters how is it every old lead water main supply pipe is not getting ripped out and replaced? To my mind it’s a DISGRACE that the shooting industry did not simply ask that one simple question. NO, they saw an excuse to charge a fortune and that mainly to the detriment of the quarry. Just my opinion …..for what its worth?

Anyway, take a look for yourself:

NOW, to TRY and help speed up availability I WILL also suggest that YOU pass on details to everyone you know who shoots. Then ALL of us start to ask whoever we buy from why they are not DEMANDING cartridges made in this material? Basically VOTE with your WALLET. YES, it will take a little time for everything to filter through but patience IS a virtue. It also allows everyone who wants to keep hold of their ‘old favourite’ for the rest of their lives. Even pass it on to the next generation and hopefully beyond!

On that note I AM looking into the possibility of stocking some direct from Steve at Hortons.                                                     RING for an update and keep checking the web site.
