Heavy Barrelled LONG RANGE .308 Bolt Action Howa 1500 Target / Varmint Rifle. This example with the Extra Long 26” (660mm) Barrel, factory screw cut at 5/8” x 24 UNeF. Ready for a suitable Sound Moderator. NOT even sure if anything over 24” is available now?
There IS a ‘tale to tell’ with this rifle but way too long to type out. IF interested, by all means ring. Way easier and faster talking than typing. Nothing ‘bad’, more ‘partial insanity’!
I have fitted it into an original Highland Outdoors (Importer) Forest Green Laminate Stocks. As pictured, this offers up a Stock / Trigger Pull at 14” (355mm) and overall length of 46 ¼” (1175mm). Scales tip at 9 Lb 10 ¼ oz (4.374 Kg). I have a GOOD selection of alternative stocks readily available here. Alternatively, I can easily order one of the WAY TOO MANY options available.
As it stands this should be perfectly suited for both Live Quarry as well as Dedicated Target / Range work. Fully Ventilated Forend to assist and aid with faster barrel cooling. Both sides as well as the bottom. Fixed Height Rollover Raised Cheek Rest for right-handed use. Along with matching Palm Swell to the grip. There are 3 small patches to the original varnish finish, circa ¼” (6mm). Just to the top of the cheek rest but nothing much. Certainly, zero effect on use or function. Simply cosmetic and detailed for advert accuracy only. Otherwise, these laminate stocks are extremely Hard Wearing, Rigid and None Flexing. As such and as detailed Perfectly suitable for game and / or target. Especially for anyone NOT wanting / thinking they need a tactical / military style rifle.
The rifle itself with minimal signs of use to date. When it came in the scope had several ring / slip marks. The start of the objective bell cone quite severely SCRUNCHED! My suspicion: The previous owner probably never managed to consistently hit a bin lid at 100 yards. Given the state of the scope, I guess it would be moving between just about every shot fired. Given the metalwork condition I suspect it spent the Bulk of its life locked in a cabinet.
Currently fitted with the original Legacy Sport Detachable Magazine Housing and Trigger Guard. Along with 10 round, High-Capacity Detachable Magazine. I have Brand-New additional examples also readily available in stock too.
