Over and Under 9.3 x 74 R Sidelock Ejector Double Rifle from Fortuna in Suhl, Germany. A truly BEAUTIFUL Double Rifle, in reality, built for Driven Game of any and all persuasion. Equally at home on a one to one Stalking outing here in the UK. Some may try to argue it is not a suitable calibre but I can disagree and have the experience to justify my comments.
25 ¾” (652mm) Over and Under barrels set to an extremely strong 3 point Locking Cross Bolt Action. Hand Detachable True Sidelock Decorated with Profuse Hand Cut Scroll Engraving throughout. The Action Top and Shoulders, Top Lever, Tang, Bottom and Trigger Guard. Even the Forend Latch Iron, the Top Lugs on the Barrels and the Front Scope Mount Block. Notice the Hinged Door in the open position to the Left Hand Lock. You can see the Main Hammer Spring and it’s the door that you use to turn the lock screw in or out. Internally its even nicer than the outside.
14 ¼” (363mm) Highly Decorative Strong Straight Grained Pistol Grip Walnut Stock featuring a Raised and Fielded Cheek Piece. All with Excellent Colour Contrast. 3 Piece Forend with the top sides screwed to the jointing ribs. Basically exactly the same as a high end Merkel over and under action / style. As such just SUPERB quality and build.
Overall length finishes at 42 5/8” with the Bare Rifle Tipping Scales at 8 Lbs 3 oz (3.713 Kg). WITH the scope it levels out at 9 Lbs 8 oz (4.314 Kg) of DELIGHT!
The barrels come with fixed open / iron sights presumably set to 50 yards / meters. They also support Matching and Modern Quick Detachable Claw Mount Bases. Currently housing an ILLUMINATED Zeiss Vari-point VM 1.1- 4 x 24 T Rifle Scope which IS included in the sale. This features a simple central Red Dot Reticle. NOTE: These are modern Quick Detachable bases to take / fit scopes with built in inverted dovetail. As such EASILY swapped out and changed if required. Also of such quality they guarantee return to zero to allow for open sight or scope use. Between shots if need be.
However, for what the rifle was made for the existing set up is just about PERFECT as it is.
In reality if I did not already own something very similar this would never have gone up for sale. Out of interest this WILL also shoot equally well from either shoulder so good for left or right handed shot.
NOW, PLEASE bear in mind neither the owner nor I am at all interested in silly offers. Neither does he need to sell or particularly want to. Also take account of what a set of these scope mounts costs along with what price this scope is when new. At the price this is for EVERYTHING the rifle is actually extremely inexpensive.
