All original specification ‘Sportsman 15’ Bolt Action .22 Rim Fire Bolt Action BSA Sporting Rifle. As the name suggests a large 15 shot capacity Built In Tubular Magazine just about impossible to loose!
Truly GREAT rifles back in their day and to last this long it simply HAS to be seriously GOOD. Absolutely zero reason why this will not perform equally well as just about anything brand new today. No doubt a bit of nostalgia for quite few too.
All original specification with some of the cleanest metal work I have seen on a rifle this age. That goes for inside and out.
25” (635mm) unthreaded barrel still complete with traditional open sights. A pity the 13 ¼” (336mm) pull stock is not prettier but it is still VERY clean and relatively unmarked. A good strong straight grain it could easily refinish and be stained with pattern etc. It features the usual BSA impressed logo to the left side.
There is enough room to thread this rifle and leave the front bead sight in situ if required. Personally I think I would simply use as is though. Take a trip back to how things used to be?
It finishes up weighing in at a bare 5 lbs 8 ½ oz (2.511 Kg) and an overall length of 43” (1093mm).
As it is I actually have a .22 Magnum single shot version myself and it’s a cracking little rifle. I enjoy using that a lot.
