WORRIED ABOUT NONE TOXIC / STEEL SHOT?                        TAKE A LOOK AT THIS:

NOW, to TRY and help speed up availability I WILL also suggest that YOU pass on details to everyone you know who shoots. Then ALL of us start to ask whoever we buy from why they are not DEMANDING cartridges made in this material? Basically VOTE with your WALLET.

YES, it will take a little time for everything to filter through but patience IS a virtue. It also allows everyone who wants to keep hold of their ‘old favourite’ for the rest of their lives. Even pass it on to the next generation and hopefully beyond!

On that note I AM looking into the possibility of stocking some direct from Steve at Hortons.                                                                                                                RING for an update and keep checking the web site.

BACK TO THE GUN:  …..

I have had several of these guns in over the years. So far they have all been extremely well made regardless of if from their budget end or their better grades. Admittedly this is beginning to look a little tried but that is reflected in the price.

The action is still nice and tight and generally very clean throughout. Sporting Hand Cut Vine Leaf Engraving which, though minimal, is very under-spoken and effective. It is also a 3 point lock up with top cross bolt so very strong. A feature more usually and generally found on higher end guns. The 29” (737mm) barrels are choked at Improved and Full.

They could, perhaps, do with a refinish. That said the gun is perfectly useable as it is and purely cosmetic. A concave machined tapering rib joins them neatly together and is stamped Anciens Etablissaments Pieper Herstal. The barrels are heavily stamped with their traditional Armed Rider on Horseback plus ‘Garantirt Uchles PieperSches Starlkammerstueck. Will need to put the glasses on and check the spelling on that lot to be 100%!

Woodwork looks to be from Maple Walnut with some nice cross grain highlights, especially to the right hand face. It finishes with a pull of 14 1/4” (362mm) with a semi-rounded pistol grip. There is a ‘continental’ raised cheek piece to the left. The usual sling attachment points usually found on guns like this along with a semi-Schnabel forend. Walls have a LOT of life left in them and the gun weighs in at approx. 6 lbs 10 oz. Finishes at an overall length of 45 3/8”.

All in all quite a nice little gun.
