A classic 12g Side by Side Box Lock Ejector from AYA in Spain and UNUSUALLY detailed as a No.1. to the barrel flats. (Please refer to image 4) . I am listing this as an older (?) gun as it is simply ‘different’ to all of the other modern examples here. The general appearance and overall finish seems to have just that little extra finesse.
NOW, to TRY and help speed up availability I WILL also suggest that YOU pass on details to everyone you know who shoots. Then ALL of us start to ask whoever we buy from why they are not DEMANDING cartridges made in this material? Basically VOTE with your WALLET.
YES, it will take a little time for everything to filter through but patience IS a virtue. It also allows everyone who wants to keep hold of their ‘old favourite’ for the rest of their lives. Even pass it on to the next generation and hopefully beyond!
On that note I AM looking into the possibility of stocking some direct from Steve at Hortons. RING for an update and keep checking the web site.
This has 26” (660mm) fixed choke barrels at ½ and Full restrictions with 2 ¾” (70mm) chambers. The action has the usual striker discs but has an original bright uncoloured finish and been like that from the start. The ‘double’ screws as usually found on Mauser Rifles are always a nice feature on a gun too. They are there on other AYA shotguns but the colour generally blends them in. The action bottom plate and trigger guard are still the original black finish. It is also the only AYA BOXLOCK I have ever seen detailed as a No.1.
At a LONG 15 1/8” (384mm) pull this will very likely suit someone in excess of 6 Ft (1.8m) tall. The stock is a nicely figured example and appears to be from Maple as opposed to the more usual ‘French or Turkish’. If anything it is cast off for a left handed gun but that is only very slight. There is every likelihood it would shoot equally well from either side. Chequering is less cuts per inch than usual too.
The gun finishes at an overall length of 43 3/8” (1104mm). It is also a SURPRISINGLY LIGHT 6 Lbs Dead. (2.712 Kg).
This is certainly making me curious. Anyone with ACCURATE information, as always, I am more than happy to hear from you. I do not suppose Edward at ASI (the UK importers) will get to see this request but I might well drop him an email and ask.
