Bolt Action .222 Model 1710 Rifle from Anschutz Germany. This calibre is now no longer available even though it IS actually a CRACKING little round. Simply out of ‘favour’ when compared to its .22 Centre Fire counterparts. No REALLY GOOD reason as to why. Thankfully people ARE beginning to once again realise they are every bit as good as any of the other three. CERTAINLY over any reasonable distance anyone should need or want to shoot at live quarry. Also the cheapest to re-load as they have the smallest case / powder capacity for those who factor things like that into a decision!
Metal work is almost as new with very little sign of much use at all. The barrel is the factory produced 23 5/8” (600mm), unthreaded with open / iron sights.
The stock is (as most were) relatively plain and does have a few small blemishes. If the original varnish was removed these should easily lift out. A decent oil finish would, no doubt, at least ‘double’ the overall appearance of the gun. Semi-Schnabel Forend Tip, Fine Cut Fox or Skip Chequering and Raised Roll over cheek piece already add their bit. Each fetaure lifts this a few treads higher than usual anyway.
These rifles come with a standard width dovetail machined to the receiver top. All ready to take a variety of easily available scope mounts as well as a Detachable Magazine.
Length of pull is currently 14” (355mm). Overall it comes in at 42 ½” (1080mm) and a bare weight of 6Lbs 15oz (3.134Kg). As with all Anschutz Rifles their reputation is renowned World Wide. Quality materials, EXCELLENT finishing and Legendary Accuracy are always expected from these guns and they seldom disappoint.
