LINSLEY SIDE BY SIDE BOXLOCK NONE EJECTOR 12G SHOTGUN.
ARCHIVE SECTION AS NOW SOLD.
A DELICIOUS little Linsley (from Harrogate) 12g Side by Side Box lock None Ejector Pigeon Gun. I actually have another Linsley myself. It was my first ever shotgun and is very unlikely to ever leave unless someone is prying my stiff cold fingers off it!
With 28 3/8th inch barrels these are certainly very unusual for length. Done to achieve the perfect balance and ease of mount for the gun. Chambers are stamped at 2 ¾” (70mm) so longer than most from this period. Also detailed for up to 1 1/4oz (32grm) loads , hence the ‘Pigeon gun’ reference. Chokes measure as lose ¼ and ¾. Fine but Profuse and Detailed Hand Engraving to the action and metal work. It also features a clipped action face. You will begin to appreciate the quality of this gun. A reasonably bonny 14” Rounded P o W grip, Walnut stock has a rather nice fine ‘Tiger Stripe’ too. Especially to the left hand side with quite a decent grain pattern to the right side too.
NONE EJECTOR! ….. SO WHAT?
In reality it always amazes me why people do not appreciate the merits of a fine English Side by Side none ejector. Unless you are shooting a good few dates each season and on relatively big driven days for Partridge, Grouse or Pheasant etc. there is very little to warrant and certainly no need for an ejector. For those of you MAD on ejectors, just out of interest, think back to the last time you broke your gun and did not block any spent cartridges from flying back over for 10 to 15 feet and beyond. Take your eye of what is in front of you to watch where empty shells drop so they can be picked up and I will put money on that being the time something gets up to present a shot! Anyway, I could go on, but that is just how I see things. To each their own but, regardless of it all, this is a CRACKING little shotgun.

THE STEEL SHOT DEBACLE?
FIRST THING: Given lead is SO dangerous, can we ask about getting every lead water main replaced? After all, ANYONE with one of those still supplying water has zero choice. LETS PUT THAT QUESTION TO HEALTH AND SAFETY EXECUTIVE AS WELL AS THE GOVERNMENT.
That is every child’s grazed knee washed out with lead infested water (direct into their blood stream. Every glass of juice. Every cup of tea or coffee, Vegetables washed and cooked in the stuff. ALL that DELICIOUS Gravy. Cloths washed in it. Then we bath in the sodding lead infested stuff!
HOW DO THEY DEFEND THIS FACT?
THEN THERE ARE more and more Non-Toxic Shot alternatives being produced. WITH near matching performances to traditional lead and close to, if not matching pressures. Take a look at Horton Gunmakers for their own entry into this debacle of modern-day shooting. APPARENTLY so lethally deadly to shooters and game eaters? How is it every old lead water main supply pipe is not getting ripped out and replaced? To my mind it’s a DISGRACE that the shooting industry did not simply ask that one simple question. NO, they saw an excuse to charge a fortune and that mainly to the detriment of the quarry. Just my opinion …..for what its worth?
Anyway, take a look for yourself:
NOW, TRY and help speed up availability. I WILL suggest that YOU pass on details to everyone you know who shoots. Then ask whoever we buy from WHY they are not DEMANDING cartridges made in this material? Basically VOTE with your WALLET.
YES, it will take a little time for everything to filter through, but patience IS a virtue. It also allows everyone who wants to keep hold of their ‘old favourite’ for the rest of their lives. Even pass it on to the next generation and hopefully beyond!
On that note I AM looking into the possibility of stocking some direct from Steve at Hortons. RING for an update and keep checking the web site.
