These rifles only need a 30-degree lever throw to operate so extremely quick cycling time between shots. Also, the entire trigger unit drops down as part of the cocking lever / hand guard. So, illuminating any chance of nipping a finger / hand whilst operating the rifle. A VERY clever and neat design. …As usual from Browning.
20” (507mm) Original Barrel still fitted with Factory Windage and Elevation Adjustable Open / Iron sights. NOT screw-cut either. Personally, I don’t actually bother using a sound moderator. Especially on a sub-sonic .22. The MAIN thing that ‘scares’ other rabbits / quarry is usually the SMACK of the bullet impact. NOT the sound of the cartridge!
Anyway, I will move on.
Stock / Trigger Pull comes in at 13 ½” (343mm) and combines for an overall length of 36 5/8” (930mm). Scales register a bare weight as pictured at 5 Lb 2 ¾ oz (2.345 Kg).
A Quite Dark Walnut, Strong Straight Grain Stock with some decent Colour Contrast. The plain Gun Blued / Blacked Action with light patina. Factory machined standard Scope Dovetail along its length. Safety is with the Hammer positioned at ‘half cock’ position. HIGH (15 Round) Capacity Tubular Magazine and all nut IMPOSSIBLE to lose. Even in a muddy swimming pool!
Barrel Fully detailed with its original ‘Browning Arms Company, Morgan, Utah + Montreal P.O. Made in Japan. As such by Miroku so BY FAR their Very Best option too.
A few light blemishes to the woodwork. One main mark found just above the rear Sling Point on the right-hand side. Given this is a plain, uncheckered and original varnish finished stock, EASY to solve / improve. Strip this back to bare timber and steam out what blemishes remain. Re-finish in a Traditional English Gun, Oiled Finish and this WILL transform into something FAR PRETTIER. Done well this ALWAYS enhances timber and brings out every last feature.
