23 1/8” (587mm) Barrel mounted to a Stock Trigger Pull of 13 ¾” (350mm). Scales tip in at 8 Lb 3 ¼ oz (3.719 Kg) INCLUDING the 30mm Scope Rings Pictured. Overall length measures to 44 1/8” (1120mm).
The calibre originally designed by Holland and Holland as a ‘sister’ cartridge to their .375 H&H Magnum. For use on Plains Game like Antelope and / or Stags on the Open Hills of Scotland. Obviously, those BIG fallow Bucks too if you look at the Magazine Floor Plate. It is, in fact, basically a Necked Down Shortened version. As such reloading is well within the realms of reality with a little care (and lubrication)! Alternatively, Brand New correctly Head Stamped Brass is also an option for the same. Full ammunition too, direct from the rifle maker. I will try to get hands on some before any purchase. Equally, there is fare chance the rifle will be sent out, possibly exported. If so ammunition is not inexpensive to ship.
An Extremely Well Figured Best Quality Walnut Stock finished with ½” (12mm) Red Recoil Pad and contrasting Black spacer. Colour ranging from a Deep Hazelnut Brown right through to Black. Then factor in Vertical Tiger Stripe Highlights. Raised Cheek Rest and FINE Hand Cut 24 Lines Per Inch Chequering. All still in almost Brand-New condition. There is also a so far unused Flush Escutcheon Oval set into the bottom. All ready for YOUR initials or even Family Crest.
The Pistol Grip Cap with Spring Loaded Hinged Door housing a spare front Sight Bead beneath. Finished in Colour Case Hardening ranging from Straw through to Blue / Black finish. The Two Recoil Bar Screws with Complementary Straw Colour too. BEST QUALITY Extensive Matching Hand Cut Engraving ALL OVER. I shudder to think what this would cost today from anyone, let alone here. The Bolt Handle along the Top as well as a Small Round to the end of the Knob. Then a Matching Ring around the circumference for a ‘No Slip Grip’ / operation.
Built on an Original German Mauser 98 Action it still details ‘N-UND and N. Berlin just behind the front Scope Mount. The rest of the factory stamps now hidden below the Dedicated and Original 30mm H&H Quick Detachable Scope Mounts. These attach to the left side of the action and ‘arc’ over to vertically above the bore. As such, with a suitable scope the Traditional Open / Iron / V sights are still usable with it in place. The Front Action Ring Adorned with Matching Engraving each side of a ¾” (19mm) Stippled and Matt Finished top strip. That done to stop any possible glare when taking a shot.
Matching Vignettes of Floral Scroll to the barrel too. Some above the Chamber. Immediately forward of the Open, (One Fixed and One Flip up / Down) Rear Sight Base. Again, above the Fixed Silver Soldered Barrel Band Front Sling Point. Then a final flurry immediately before and on the Front Site Ramp Base. That fitted with Holland’s Flip Up / Down Front Bead Protector and / or Anti-Glare Hood.
Flipping the Rifle onto its ‘back’ we come to the Even More DELIGHTFUL & DELICIOUS Floor Plate and Trigger Guard. Profusely and Completely Covered Matching Scrolling Leaf Engraving. The Gun Serial Number detailed in a Plain Cartouche to the Trigger Guard itself. A similar ‘window’ just behind the Hinge Position, with ‘4 CARTRIDGES’ IN GOLD and then the ‘JEWEL’. A MAGNIFICENT MASTER FALLOW BUCK ‘Standing Proud’ taking Centre Stage. Surrounded with Fully Matching Pattern Hand Cut Engraving. All EXPERTLY Carved into the Solid Steel.
Lastly, the Rifle still sports its Original Mauser Style Flag Safety. ALSO, a Low-Level Side Position option. BOTH function as they should. The ‘Flag’ Inlayed in Solid Gold with the word SAFE showing when laid to the right and applied. Which you use is entirely up to you.
Also, before you question it, DO PLEASE get in touch with the manufacturer. Check on a current price with similar specifications and Engraving, along with waiting time.
