WINCHESTER SELECT 12G OVER AND UNDER SHOTGUN

Almost As New Condition 12g Winchester Select Over and Under Multi-Choke Shotgun. 30” (760mm) Barrels with 3” (75mm) Chambers and Steel Proof stamped with Fluer de Liegh stamps.  Stock pull measures to 14 ¾” and appears to be at about the maximum on the Adjustable Trigger. Overall length at 47 5/8” (1210mm) and scales offer up 7 lb 7 ¼ oz (3.379 Kg).

The gun comes complete with its original Bright Red, Winchester Logo Hard Carry case. A full complement of chokes and original paperwork (User Manual as well as Warranty Card).

This has seen so little use to date the Top Lever has not even centred up to the Tang / Stock. With the gun closed it is still well over to the right. It IS one of the easiest signs to check for. Admittedly a new oversized spring can produce the same result. However, the rest of the gun supports this has just seen little / minimal use to date. Apart from anything else, it came in alongside another Winchester I sold the customer a few years ago. He liked that so much he proceeded to buy this. ….. But kept using the older Model 91.

Manual Safety with Barrel Selector built in. As detailed, the Trigger Blade also runs on a slide so will adjust back down to circa 14” pull if needed. A ‘Sporter’ model with Ventilated ½” (12mm) Top Rib. That features a smaller White Mid-Bead as well as the High Vis Red front. Jointing ribs also ventilated to assist with cooling when used for clay shooting OR BUSY game days.

Bright finished Action with some Nice Scroll Engraving. Metal work is generally Very clean and excellent condition throughout. Quite a Nicely Decorative Strong Straight Grained American Walnut Stock with a Good Tight Pattern. Toward the back top on the Right side that changes to some Decorative Gross Grain. That continues over to the left face, spreading out over 70% making this quite a pretty gun indeed. A couple of Very Light blemishes to the woodwork. Nothing the steam of a good brew would not lift back out. …. Well, maybe slightly more but not much. Chequering is still Very Clean and Well Defined too.

Just a CRACKING example Over and Under shotgun from this Iconic maker. Hopefully we will start to get access to Brand New options again before too long. Only things for the last few years have been semi-autos or pump.

As for the Lead Sh-t ‘FIASCO’? READ ON:

THERE ARE more and more None Toxic Shot alternatives being produced. WITH near matching performances to traditional lead and close to, if not matching pressures. Take a look at Horton Gunmakers for their own entry into this debacle of modern day shooting. IF its so lethally deadly to shooters and game eaters how is it every old lead water main supply pipe is not getting ripped out and replaced? To my mind it’s a DISGRACE that the shooting industry did not simply ask that one simple question. NO, they saw an excuse to charge a fortune and that mainly to the detriment of the quarry. Just my opinion …..for what its worth?

Anyway, take a look for yourself:

NOW, to TRY and help speed up availability I WILL also suggest that YOU pass on details to everyone you know who shoots. Then ALL of us start to ask whoever we buy from why they are not DEMANDING cartridges made in this material? Basically VOTE with your WALLET.

YES, it will take a little time for everything to filter through but patience IS a virtue. It also allows everyone who wants to keep hold of their ‘old favourite’ for the rest of their lives. Even pass it on to the next generation and hopefully beyond!

Sadly Steve has now given up on the UK Gun Trade and left for the US. HOPEFULLY a major producer will adopt and cartridges will eventually travel back this way.
