Lever Action .38 Special, Model ‘Cougar’, Saddle Ring Carbine from Rossi. Sadly, this and quite a few more all in from the same fella, now retiring from shooting. One of the main issues being our local licensing department! Everything is in generally Excellent Condition and regularly cleaned. A true ‘old school rifleman’.
Standard 20″ (508mm) barrel set to a Stock Pull measuring 12 3/4″ (325mm). That, to the shortest point of the Concave Butt. Overall, it measures to a maximum 37 1/2″ (952mm and tips scales at 5 Lb 15 oz (2.686 Kg).
As for condition and Specs. Firstly, check out the loading gate. There is hardly a mark by way of evidence of much ammunition going in. The brass case ALWAYS both leave marks as well as rub away the original finish. Given it’s the only option to load, other than as singles from the top, and that is unlikely. Similar evidence would show there if so.
The Stock itself has a Nice Dark Finish with a Strong Straight Grain. Also, some Nice Light Contrasts and Pattern. The Black finished Action Features a Snarling Cougars Head Badge inset on the Left-Hand Side. Safety is with the Hammer at Half Cock position. All in all a Very Nice example of these great Lever Action Rifles.
