One of a STRICTLY Limited run from WAY back in 1972 in Winchester’ own Plant in Cobourg, Ontario. Apparently the very first Commemorative Winchester EVER made specifically for the Western European market. Not entirely sure WHY, but total numbers are detailed at 4903! Seems something of an odd number and ANYONE with ACCURATE information PLEASE do enlighten me. All I can guess is this was the total number of these guns made for that single year of manufacture. That perhaps makes more logic / sense.
Anyway, the point is, the rifle is now SERIOUSLY RARE. Those that are still around already part of people’s collections.
ANOTHER ‘SERIOUS’ enhancement with this individual rifle is the serial number. Given it is a ‘Yellow Boy’ and in .30-30 calibre this IS numbered ‘YB3030’!
As per images, the rifle comes with its Original Packaging Box and Paperwork. A small shame it was not kept in a secondary storage box. But considering now 54 years old, even the box is still pretty damned good.
The gun itself appears to be unfired and still in Showroom / Brand New Condition. No REAL surprise there considering what it is. There are ZERO marks or blemishes to the Polished Brass, Gun Blued finish or Dark Walnut stock.
Paperwork shows it was originally supplied here in the UK through Edgar Brothers.
Everything else conforms to ‘official’ specification details online too. The Head of an Indian Chief in Traditional Head Dress Engraved to the Left side of the action. Also, light scroll work to either side too. The Top Tang detailed with WINCHESTER Model 1894. ‘Yellow Boy Indian Carbine’ to the right side of the chamber. Also ‘American Made with full Newhaven Address details to the left.
Original Saddle Ring loop is also still in place. ALL 100% ORIGINAL and not so much as even a slight scratch or residue to the loading gate.
As said, this IS an investment and likely one of the best most people could ever make. There is not a lot in the world out there with the potential growth in value that this rifle HAS.
Yes, just my opinion and IF you disagree, I have zero issue with your view. If that is you then I have a decent selection of ‘standard’ options available for WAY less money. Alternatively, I can also order in something brand new from whatever options are available this year.
As per ‘official’ specifications They come with what is detailed as a ‘Dark Walnut’ Stock. This one certainly is and along with a Very Tight Grain has some Very Nice Pattern too. That said, it is that ‘dark’ the light does need to ‘work’ to see exactly how nice.
Barrel measures to 19 7/8” (585mm) with a Stock pull circa 13 ½” (343mm). Overall length comes in at 38 ½” (977mm) and scales trip out with a weight of 6 Lb 3 oz. (2.8 Kg).
THERE ARE NO scope mount holes drilled to the top of the action either.
