STEYR MANNLICHER SCHOENAUER BOLT ACTION 6.5X54 CALIBRE RIFLE.

Traditional ‘6.5’ Steyr Mannlicher Schoenauer Bolt Action Rifle in its Original 6.5×54 Calibre. 22 ½” (570mm) barrel set to a Stock pull of 14 5/8” (373mm) combining for an overall length of 43 ¾”. (1110mm). Scales tipping out at 7 Lbs 6 ¼ oz (3.355 Kg).

This example being one of the Higher Grade Take Down options WITH Flush Fitted Pop Up Tang mounted Peep Sight. Pull / push the cross pin out from the front of the forend. Push in the magazine release and drop that out. Twist the action release lever and simply lift the stock away. Simple as that. Original Open / Iron Sights still intact and there is even the spare front bead tucked away in the grip cap.

At some point this rifle has had Ernst Apel Quick Detachable Scope rings fitted at some stage. The action already pre-drilled and tapped as evidence. If wanting to shoot this with a scope I suggest you check. I do have these in stock from time to time so always worth asking. They just never generally hang about for long. Worst case is I have to order a brand new set and usually wait a couple of weeks.

That all said these ARE rifles designed and made to shoot exactly as they are over open sights. A rarity for most these days. Also, given the preference for sound moderators it IS worth taking account of the muzzle. Still more than enough room to screw cut a thread without disturbing the original front sight bead. A forward mounted Moderator and your away.

Yes, the calibre falls just below legal use on the 3 bigger deer species. However not entirely certain what the EXACT situation is on the smaller three wandering about here in the UK. Especially given Muntjack and Chinese Water Deer can now be shot with .22 centre fire. Then we also have the Lead Free DEBACLE currently underway. WHO KNOWS where things will eventually end up?

Back to the rifles and they ARE simply Beautifully Designed and Engineered. The Rotary Magazines are a thing of beauty in their own right. Adjustable trigger but it is currently set to a very nice clean crisp release as is. Fine Line Hand Cut Chequering to the grip areas and still Clean, Well Defined and even sharp to the touch. Woodwork has a Good Strong Grain through the Grip leading back-over to some reasonable Pattern and Colour Contrast. Especially to the higher areas of the Butt Stock. Raised Cheek rest for a comfortable shooting position and finished off with a Ribbed Metal Butt Plate. That itself with a Flush Hinged Trap Door / Flap. The stock drilled out to accept spare ammunition / multi piece cleaning rod etc.

I have one of these FINE Rifles in my own cabinet that’s been there for MANY YEARS. Mine is actually in .275 calibre but they are all a DELIGHT to shoot. The workmanship is quite simply a DELIGHT. They ARE a LONG way from the modern day halfway to full blown near tactical options available today. Quite WHY supposed ‘stalkers’ think they need anything on those lines is beyond me. If you’re tired of looking at those options by all means get one of these into your hands.
