PECAR  RIFLE SCOPES.

In my opinion amongst the best quality scopes ever made. Even with modern day technology, design and machinery Pecar rifle scopes are still comparable to the best anything today has to offer. Compared to the equivalent model from ALL of the top European and / or World manufacturers, if they produced anything equivalent, they are hard to better. If another manufacturer suites YOUR individual eye better then OK but in general certainly at the highest end of quality scopes.

All of these scopes were HAND made and personally inspected before dispatch. I WAS set to become the UK importer until Michael Schwartz / Pecar were forced to close…. (due to the prospect of a massive rent increase or a massive investment to move premises not long enough away from his retirement and sons with their own careers elsewhere).

These are / were the only scope produced (and copy righted)  to offer an interchangeable reticle system that can be performed by the owner themselves. I do have limited numbers of replacement turret / reticle holders and CAN also get a replacement reticle installed.

Be CAREFUL with tube size and mounts as there are many inch models but also many in 26mm tube body too.

STANDARD  model Pecar are fitted with a ‘ FLOATING ‘ reticle. That is to say the reticle will move off centre within the sight picture when looking through the scope IF the rifle and mounts are not well made and accurately aligned.

CHAMPION model Pecar (and those with a central dot within a circle on the adjustment turret block) have centred reticle, regardless of adjustment (as most modern day scopes).

I shoot with Pecar on all but one of my own rifles and, in truth, have NO PROBLEM if the point of aim is slightly out of centre…. I am too busy concentrating on holding steady to worry about a ‘ perfect image ‘ with whatever I intend to shoot nicely framed !

A LOT are found with the old traditional German No1 Sniper POST reticle or slight variations. With a little practice they are as accurate as most people are and VERY easy to use, especially for a quick opportunity.

Reticle are only correctly interchangeable between the same models i.e. A fixed 6x should only be swapped with a fixed 6x. A 4-10 with a 4-10 etc. AND the STANDARD models will NOT interchange with the CHAMPION.

A GREAT shame these scopes are no longer produced. Anyone who used or still uses one will attest to their quality, clarity and use. NO, not for the main stream rifle shooter these days but for those who appreciate top quality my advice is to certainly, at very least, try one.

Apparently years ago a rifle was recovered from the bottom of a glacier in the Alps. It had been lost something like 60 or 70 years earlier. Obviously no longer serviceable and all rusty the rifle was destroyed but the scope removed, fitted to another rifle and test fired / zeroed in. Even after all that time laid out in the open to all the elements could throw at it the scope adjusted and kept zero !

Not quite sure how ANYTHING else would perform in the same situation ?

I think you should be able to tell how highly I consider PECAR.
