Original ‘BISLEY’ Model M84 MK11 Long Range 7.62 x 51 Nato Bolt Action Target Rifle from Parker Hale, ENGLAND.
IF you think this is expensive PLEASE check out what an M85 Sniper went for at Southams Auction June 2024, LOT 739. OK, NOT the SAME rifle but NOT that different either. They ARE the same action, bolt, trigger and barrel.
As per Catalogue No.86 this is a Single Shot, dedicated Right Hand Stock ‘Bisley’ Model with 27 ½” (700mm) Target Barrel. This finishes at ¾” / .775” (20mm) at the muzzle and is still fitted with its correct SM300 Front Element Holder. Fully and correctly Stamped up with PARKER HALE LTD. BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND. Then 7.62 NATO over the chamber.
The correct and original specification Matching Rear Dioptre Fully Adjustable Rear Sight also in place. Just a note but I have tried the rifle and the trigger is a delight. Its not bad for accuracy either!
Stock pull is currently set at 12 5/8” (315mm) and no ‘factory’ extension pieces. However, the matching Original and correct Parker Hale Recoil pad is attached with allen head machine screws. Making up a number of stock extenders would prove an easy enough job and EASILY fitted to suit.
Overall the rifle measures up to 46 ¾” (1187mm) and weighs in as pictured at an ounce short of 11 Lbs (4.956 Kg). Beavertail Forend with flush inlayed inverted T target accessory rail. All ready to accept hand stop / sling point / target bi-pod etc. The previous owner actually added to the bottom of the pistol grip. With a standard heavy wire target bi-pod fitted it was near perfect. Ready set up for bench rest and prone in his club.
Rear dioptre is currently fitted with an older original AJ Parker 6 hole eyepiece. If you want it 100% original spec. I will have an original Parker Hale PH60 alternative to swap things.
Apparently the Military Multi Shot option actually out-performed the AI rifles in all trials. For some reason though they decided to place the sniper rifle order with them. NO DOUBT a big part of the decision will have been costs. Parker Hale will likely have been considered too cheap to be suitable! Well done AI but REALLY?
