The usual / traditional 7.62 X 51 NATO Military Mauser 98 Target Rifle Conversion. This with a 27 3/8” (695mm) Shultz and Larsen Match Grade Heavy Profile Target Barrel. It will also accept standard .308 calibre ammunition but the bolt may be slightly tight to lock down. If you look at case details they have a slightly steeper shoulder which needs ‘persuading’ into the chamber when new. Obviously once fire formed they slide straight back in if re-loading etc.
Stock pull is currently at 13” (330mm) making an overall length at 47 3/8” (1205mm) and a Solid 10 Lbs 3 ½ oz. (4 635 Kg). Normal Flag style safety with the action drilled and tapped to take suitable mounts and scope. OR go traditional and drop on a matching Target Dioptre rear sight to work with the existing front element holder.
A nice little feature is the cut away recess to allow a cleaner / easier bolt pick up. Flush fitted fixed point accessory rail to the bottom of the forend.
These now OLD rifles can be and are still surprisingly accurate. Often capable of matching and beating many brand new guns available today at a small percentage of the cost. The Mauser action also opens up a lot of upgrade options. With readily available drop in stocks its easy to thoroughly modernise one.
