A Traditional Custom Built Sporting Safari style rifle all in original condition. Complete with the front sling swivel permanently attached to the barrel and original open sights. A fixed front bead with Williams style Full Adjustable Elevation and Windage rear ‘V’ sight. A Mauser action but no military markings left showing. It is now finished with Hand Engraved detailing some VERY pretty Light Bouquet and Scroll. This continues to the barrel at the top of the chamber as well as the Trigger Guard, Magazine Floor Plate and Magazine Release Lever. The 22 ½” (572mm) barrel is simply engraved with MAUSER 7 X 57.
Quite WHY the maker did not include their details is perplexing to say the least. This IS a rifle ANY MAKER would and should be VERY proud and certainly enough to claim as their own.
The stock is Exceptionally Well Figured Maple Walnut with a 14 3/8” (365mm) length of pull. It features A Horn Forend Tip, matching Pistol Grip Cap and Classic Bavarian Style Raised Cheek Piece. The 1” Red Recoil pad does, as always, finish off a classic rifle like this very well too. It has the traditional Mauser Flag Safety fitted.
Overall it comes in at a 1 oz over 7Lbs (3.212 Kg) and a length of 44 1/8” (1120mm).
It IS one of those rifles with ‘FINE PROPORTIONS’. That is about the simplest way to describe something like this. It HAS THAT ‘feel’ of just a CLASSY little rifle. I do shoot this CLASSIC calibre (.275 /.275 Rigby / 7x57mm) myself and CAN confirm it is every bit as sweet as people say.
