Almost brand new Marlin 917MS bolt action rifle in .17 Mach2 calibre. This comes in a grey laminate standard format stock. A stainless steel action and matching 16” threaded (1/2” UNF) semi heavy / varmint weight barrel.
Ammunition costs around half that of .17HMR (which can be a bugger to get hold of regularly as we all know). Performance is not much less at around 2000 ft/sec against 2330. This still does near enough the same devastating job as an HMR on everything it was designed to be shot at.
PLEASE don’t turn your nose up at the velocity below a HMR…..DO the maths. …………. Even over a shot at 300 yards the HMR takes just over 0.35 seconds. The Mach 2 takes a WHOPPING 10TH of a second more at 0.45 seconds! At 100 yards that turns into just over 300th of a second difference. If you think any of it will make a difference to the end result then by all means stick with the HMR!
