Short Magazine Lee Enfield SMLE. .45 ACP Bolt Action Rifle Conversion on an original and near immaculate 1944 dated Lithgow Mark 111.
The timber is in near new condition and complete with MOA SMLE M* HV 1944 stamped to the butt. Matching stamps to the action detailing MA Lithgow SMLE 111* 1944. (Just a guess here but this could be from 1944 originally)! It is actually rather a shame that this is not still in its original .303 calibre. In this condition it’s a 100% collectors piece which would be a ‘no brainer’ contender for any serious collector. Maybe still is, even in .45?
27 ¼” (692mm) barrel where even the bayonet locator pin / lug has matching number. Stock length is currently at 13” (330mm) and overall 44” (1118mm) dead. Weight, as pictured, is 8 ½ Lbs (3.864 Kg).
There ARE however, also some big advantages being a .45 calibre. The rifle can be used both on indoor as well as outdoor ranges. THAT certainly opens up the opportunity to own and shoot a very nostalgic and iconic rifle. Especially where the power of its usual calibre would be restricted and not allowed. The traditional iron ladder sight is still in place and graduated from 200 to 2000 yards though that is unlikely to be graduated for a 45. A Brass Barrel Band and matching butt plate. The usual ‘trap door’ for an oil bottle just finish the rifle nicely.
Should Target Sights be required I am pretty sure the action will accommodate a standard Parker Hale Dioptre sight. Detachable magazine and all, as pictured and detailed.
EXCEPTIONAL condition.
