Bare rifle WITH rail, as per images, tips scales at 8 lbs 8 ¾ oz (3.875 Kg) and brings in an Overall Length of 42” (1065mm). WITH the muzzle break fitted, Overall Length comes in at an additional 1 1/8” (30mm).

The ‘No Gunsmithing required’ After-Market Picatiny Scope Mount rail IS included. That itself no doubt best part of, if not in excess of, £100 these days. Especially with delivery on top factored in. The Action IS also pre-drilled and tapped ready to accept the more original / traditional Parker Hale base and rings. I DO also have those available at time of listing the advert but will be in addition.

CORRECT 10 Round 7.62 x 51 Nato Sterling Detachable Magazine. As such no loading or cycling issues with the rifle in use. Side mounted ‘usual’ safety.

Many years ago my now no longer with us friend Brian decided he wanted an original .303 like this. Actually for Stalking and why not? As said to him the cartridge is responsible for more game on the floor than ANY other. Especially when counting 2 legged along side 4 legged varieties! We ended up with an SMLE example dating from 1916. However things did not begin well. He struggled to get 3 out of 5 rounds onto an A4 sheet at 100 yards. Those 3 were also WELL spread. I could just manage to get all 5 onto an A4 sheet of paper. Again spaced from top to bottom and left to right!

To say he was disappointed is a massive understatement. However, I KNEW the bulk of the problem was the SERIOUSLY CRAPPY trigger pull. At least I hoped and figured I would at least give that a ‘coat of looking at’. They ARE DESPERATELY BASIC though adequate for original design and manufacturing parameters. After all the rifles only needed to hit a target circa 2- 2 ½ feet (600 – 750mm) and 16” (400mm) wide. WITH ‘extra’ bits sticking out top, bottom and sides. Often WAY closer than 100 yards too! IF your struggling to figure that out just ‘take 5’ and have a think. (Given all versions were originally made for use in WWI and WWII).

Anyway, by the time I finished with the trigger, we could send three rounds down that were sub inch to actually touching each other! Not saying this will perform as good as that. However the trigger IS original, relatively heavy as well as a long way from consistent.

I reckon some work WOULD be well worth the investment. Especially given the money already put into this. Price up a basic rifle to begin with. Then a re-barrel and Proof House Test. Synthetic stock. Scope rail. Plus a CORRECT 7.62 Calibre Magazine. Works out to a LOT of money. As such this is for SOD ALL in REAL terms!
